Liz Gillies became a household name playing the sharp-tongued Jade West on Nickelodeon's "Victorious," later reinventing herself as a scene-stealing heiress on "Dynasty." But beyond the spotlight, fans have long been curious about another side of her life — her relationship status.

Liz Gillies' Husband – From 'Victorious' to Vows

Gillies met Michael Corcoran while filming "Victorious," the Nickelodeon hit that ran from 2010 to 2013. The actress was born in July 1993, which would have made her around 16 or 17 when the series began production. Corcoran, born in December 1972, was in his late 30s at the time.

Working behind the scenes as a composer and producer, he had built a career on scoring teen TV staples such as "Zoey 101," "iCarly," "Henry Danger," as well as "Victorious."

Their first encounter happened on set, and Gillies has since recalled the moment with clarity and amusement. Appearing on the Zach Sang Show in 2020, she explained that when Corcoran came to meet the cast, she immediately told a co-star, "I'm gonna date him."

At the time, she knew it wasn't entirely possible — he was in a relationship, much older, and had no interest in her in that way — but she kept the thought tucked away, calling it "one to put on the back burner." "I always had a crush on him but I played it cool," she revealed.

Years passed, and the timing eventually shifted. When both were single, the friendship evolved into something more. According to Gillies, their connection felt natural and inevitable.

What once seemed completely out of reach quietly transformed into a meaningful relationship that earned the support of their closest friends. Reflecting on it, she said:

"It was really meant to be and everyone was very happy for us. It seemed out of reach but nothing's ever totally out of reach with me."

Corcoran's world of music production aligned with Gillies' artistic life, strengthening their bond beyond romance. As a Grammy-nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist, he brought industry experience and creativity to their shared lives.

Not long after their relationship began, Corcoran met Gillies' parents in a way that was anything but traditional. During a 2015 appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the actress described how, after just two weeks of dating, her parents came to visit and met Corcoran for the first time.

After six years together, Gillies and Corcoran decided it was time to make things official.

Midway through their stay, Gillies received a sudden call to fly out for an audition with Dennis Leary. With no time to spare, she left her boyfriend alone with her family while she jetted off.

"I had to get on a plane that night," she explained, adding that she left them to "have their own private vacation without me to get acquainted." Though the setup was unconventional, she made the best of it. When she met Leary, she joked:

"I just want you to know what went down — I literally left my boyfriend with my family together for the first time, so you better cast me."

Thankfully, it all worked out. Not only did she land the role, but the relationship with Corcoran continued to deepen — eventually leading to their quiet, elegant wedding years later.

Liz Gillies' Husband –A Quarantine Wedding and the Age Gap She Never Thought Twice About

After six years together, Gillies and Corcoran decided it was time to make things official. At the time, she had been living and working in Atlanta for two years, filming "Dynasty," while Corcoran remained in Los Angeles with their dogs.

The long-distance routine had become exhausting, and when the show was renewed for a third season, Gillies suggested he relocate. Corcoran, a lifelong California native, agreed — a decision that marked a new chapter for them as a couple.

Soon after closing on their new home in Atlanta, Corcoran led her into the backyard under the pretense of giving it another look. What the actress didn't expect was for him to get down on one knee and propose.

Gillies later admitted she was completely surprised, calling it "a perfect proposal." Corcoran confessed he'd been carrying the ring around all day, nervous and relieved once she said yes.

They set their wedding date for April 25, 2020 — their French bulldog Otis's birthday — and planned to marry at the St. Regis in Atlanta. But like many couples that spring, the pandemic forced them to postpone. Gillies said they didn't hesitate, adding:

"[...] It didn't feel right to be celebrating in such a big way when there was so much going on in the world. It would have been in poor taste to burden people by asking them to risk their lives to come to our wedding. [...] Our wedding could wait."

Eventually, the couple opted for something smaller and safer. In July, they began searching for East Coast venues offering micro weddings, and found the Inn at Fernbrook Farms in New Jersey.

With her family still living nearby, Gillies had them scout the property. Their feedback was glowing, and it was quickly settled. In just under a month, they planned the entire event.

As for the age gap between Gillies and her husband? It's never been a concern for her.

On August 8, 2020, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with just 10 guests. Her father officiated. During the vows, the moment hit her — they had actually done it. "I think I turned to Michael and mouthed, 'Oh my God, we actually did it.' We were so happy," she recalled.

The reception that followed was warm and personal. They chose a single, rustic farm table instead of separate ones, surrounded by soft pinks, greens, and natural textures.

Music was provided by acoustic duo Pat and Sean Kelly, who performed songs the couple loved with a perfect mix of originality and respect for the originals.

Later, the women changed into pajamas, the men smoked cigars by the fire, and everyone shared s’mores under the stars. In the end, the actress had no regrets about scaling things down, sharing, "At the end of the day, it's about you and the person you love. The rest doesn't matter."

As for the age gap between Gillies and her husband? It's never been a concern for her. During her 2020 appearance on the "Zach Sang Show," she addressed the 20-year difference with a mix of clarity and humor. She said:

"It's not even a thought that has ever crept into my brain."

While jokes or comments from others had surfaced, she made it clear that most of them had already been made — by her. Gillies added that the people who had followed her career closely knew how significant the relationship was to her, even if she hadn't spoken about it publicly.

"Anytime you saw me, you saw Michael," she explained, describing how they'd host parties together and were very much a package deal. "I'm glad I was able to be under wraps for this long," she added. "You look at it on paper — is it a great math problem? No. But it's never been a problem for us."

In her eyes, it was just part of who they were. "Anyone who knows me knows the odds of me ever dating or marrying anybody my age fell between zero and three percent," she admitted, laughing. "We're lucky actually that this is the age difference — because it could have been crazier."

Inside Liz Gillies' Marriage to Her Longtime Love

Four years after their wedding, life with her husband, looked nothing like the typical Hollywood relationship — and that was by design. At 31, Gillies had been diving deeper into solo music, releasing new work and performing live. Corcoran, 51, remained a steady creative force in her life.

Early in their relationship, Gillies imagined they might become a full-time musical duo. "I was like, 'Oh, we're going to be like James Taylor and Carly Simon,'" she recalled.

But that never became their reality. They wrote together often, but only when it felt natural. "We picked our moments," she explained. Working together required balance. "We were both very creative," the actress said. "You want to make sure that you're getting along, and it's peaceful and happy and fun."

Both had strong opinions, which sometimes led to tension, but when it worked, it was worth it. What drew her in from the start, she said, was his rare talent.

"He had a savant level talent, and that was it for me," the Hollywood star admitted. However, at the center of their marriage was friendship. She said:

"We were best friends. It sounds very eye-roll-y, and if anyone said it to me about them, I'd be like, 'Oh, shut up. You're boring.' But unfortunately, I think that was the key."

Their home life reflected that closeness. With four dogs and a shared love of comedy and television, the actress described their life as "really beautiful" and "peaceful."

Whether walking the dogs or watching shows, they found joy in the routine. "I wouldn't have traded it for anything," she said. From a quiet proposal to a scaled-back wedding and years of creative partnership, Liz Gillies' husband has not only been her collaborator — he has been her closest companion.
