"I have always enjoyed strength training. I've always enjoyed lifting weight—like I don't want to run unless I'm being chased," she told the publication. Metz said she was committed to her fitness journey because she wanted to age well and be strong.
"I'm literally doing it because I am nervous about aging, about osteoporosis or arthritis, you know, and because they are now discovering so much about health overall [and] it's really about being and staying strong and flexible," she reflected.

"[...] Like, yes, you could sort of put a band-aid on the problem. But like, 'What's the bigger issue?' There's a bigger issue for me. It wouldn't take with me. I could eat past it. With anything, it's a lifestyle change," she said.

She added the real issue isn't food; food is the symptom. "Everyone's filling a void with something," she said. Metz's companionship extends far beyond the physical, emotional, and psychological struggles with weight loss.

As a former preschool teacher, she recognized children's need to feel seen and heard. So, she wrote and released a children's book titled, "When I Talk To God, I Talk About Feelings."
One review described it as a "A tender book to help little ones make sense of the emotions around prayer." Speaking about what went behind creating this project, Metz acknowledged that, "Ultimately, kids always want to talk about their feelings."
She added that society has transitioned to an age of mental health awareness. In light of this, she wanted to "preemptively" try and arm children with the words to name—and the confidence—to express their emotions. So, she got to work. The book was published on April 8 this year.
The "American Horror Story" actress also recently moved to Nashville. She revealed that she lived in Los Angeles for 21 years. In Nashville, however, she's closer to her family, who stay in Florida.
"It's just a better quality of life here. Everything is 15 minutes away, and it's just so much less stress," she said of her new home. The singer has also been enjoying Southern culture and hospitality, miles away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
