Garcelle Beauvais's First Husband Works in Entertainment

What is known, however, is how quickly their relationship began — and ended. In 2020, Beauvais shared that she met Saunders while modeling in New York. The connection was instant. "We immediately fell in love," she recalled. Just two months later, in 1999, they got married.

But the marriage didn't last. They divorced in 2000, just a year later. During that time, they welcomed a son, Oliver Saunders. As she moved on from that early relationship, she soon found herself stepping into another marriage.

Garcelle Beauvais's Divorce from Her Second Husband Was Public and Painful

In April 2010, Beauvais discovered that Nilon had been having a long-term affair. In a moment of raw anger and heartbreak, she sent a mass email to his colleagues at Creative Artists Agency, making the betrayal public.

She reportedly began the message with, "Tiger Woods/Jesse James/Mike Nilon," drawing a pointed comparison to other high-profile men involved in cheating scandals.

Shortly after, Beauvais addressed the situation in a brief statement to UsMagazine, saying her priority was caring for her children and focusing on "healing the pain." At the time, she added that she would not make any further comments.

Beuvais and Nilon eventually divorced in 2011. Years later, she reflected on the emotional toll the situation had taken on her. "I was so angry, and hurt and confused. With the betrayal, I thought, 'Was I not enough?'" she shared in April 2022.

Her honesty struck a chord with fans who had followed her journey, and in April 2024, she revisited that difficult time during "Bravo's Hot Mic" podcast. She recalled that when she first discovered the affair, the decision to leave wasn't immediate.

"I was deciding if I was going to divorce — my kids were three, you know, I had two three-year-olds — so I did think for a minute: Do I stay? And work it out and give them some?" she said.

Her choice was more than her well-being — it was also about her children. "I didn't want to raise children in that environment of being anxious and crazy all the time," she explained.

Garcelle Beauvais Does Not Have a Husband

Beauvais is currently single and not in a relationship. During a January 2024 appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show," she acknowledged the challenges of dating in the public eye. "That's tricky, because not everybody wants to be on a reality show, you know what I mean?" she shared.

Still, she made it clear she's content with where she is. "I have a full life. When the man comes, he comes," she told host Jennifer Hudson. Her perspective is shaped by the emotional toll her past relationships took on her.

She chose not to stay in a marriage that would have compromised her sense of self or dimmed her individuality. "This is my one shot at life. And I didn't think it would be fair for my kids to live with a mom who has so much angst," Beauvais remarked.

Motherhood remains the most fulfilling part of her life. Beauvais is a devoted parent to three sons: Oliver, from her first marriage, and twins Jax and Jaid, from her second. Despite the painful end to her relationship with Nilon, the two have managed to co-parent respectfully. "I couldn't hate the man [my kids] love so much," she said.

Because of her deep commitment to her children, she's intentional about who she allows into her life. "I don’t want to just bring anybody in as a seat filler. I really want it to be the person," she added.

She also challenges the expectations placed on women, "We put so much pressure on women to have a man, be married, have kids. Can we just live our lives?"

Healing, Growth, and Moving On

Now, Beauvais balances a thriving career as a talk show co-host, actress, and author. In her memoir "Love Me As I Am," she unpacks her personal history with depth and honesty. "It was like therapy,” she said of writing the book. "But I feel like I've made peace with a lot of things, so that's why now it feels like a good time to share."

What defines her now is not her relationships, but the strength it took to rise from them. Whether on-screen or in print, Beauvais continues to speak her truth—firm in her values, protective of her peace, and unafraid to share what it took to get here.
