Law Enforcement Visited the Home of Nancy Guthrie's Relatives — Details
At first, the disappearance seemed heartbreakingly straightforward. Now, with investigators retracing every step, the timing of events is becoming impossible to ignore.
The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of the "Today" show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has taken a turn that places renewed focus on the people who last saw her.
Authorities insist nothing is being assumed. Still, the details keep shifting.

Nancy Guthrie's Last Known Movements
According to Us Weekly, Nancy's last known movement was with family. The last interaction her family had with her took place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, when she went out to dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the family dropped Nancy off at her Tucson-area home at about 9:30 to 9:45 p.m., explaining, "We have a start point. The family took her home from dinner at about 9:30 to 9:45 [p.m.]. So we would back that up to even say 9 or 8:30 p.m. to start looking."

At that time, investigators believed Annie was the last person to see her mother. Nanos said Annie reported no "red flags" and emphasized that Nancy had "no cognitive issues at all."

From there, the timeline goes silent. Authorities are now examining a window stretching from late Saturday night, January 31, through about 11 a.m. Sunday, February 1, 2026, is the period when Nancy is believed to have vanished. "This is an 84-year-old lady who is safe in her own home asleep, and she is taken," Nanos later said. "That should never happen."
Police Were Finally Called
That Sunday morning, family members realized Nancy was missing. Police were formally notified shortly after, at 12:15 p.m., prompting an urgent response.
"This is very concerning to us. We don't typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But it's very concerning what we're learning from the house. And so we'll just continue," Nanos said during a press conference.

"The detective's homicide team is out right now looking at the scene as well," Nanos added during the news conference. He further explained that Nancy's physical health made the delay especially troubling.
"We've pretty much just thrown everything at this that we can," he stated, adding that Nancy "is not of good physical health, and so naturally that’s a great concern."

A Subtle but Crucial Clarification
By Monday, February 2, it was reported that Annie was the last person to see Nancy, and nothing about their final interaction appeared suspicious.
But on Wednesday, February 4, that detail changed. According to the New York Post, authorities clarified that Tommaso, not Annie, was the last person to see Nancy alive. Nanos told the New York Times that Tommaso personally dropped Nancy off at her home and made sure she went inside safely before leaving.
The shift subtly but significantly tightened the focus on Nancy's final moments.
Law Enforcement Shows Up at the Family Home
Later that same day, TMZ reported a striking development. Law enforcement agents were seen arriving at Annie and Tommaso's home in Arizona. According to the outlet, the home was swarming with law enforcement agents.
Photos showed a deputy wearing an ICAC shirt, associated with the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, carrying a bag believed to contain a forensic extraction device capable of accessing smartphone data, including deleted and encrypted material.
Reporters outside the home said agents appeared to remove items from inside, though authorities have not confirmed what, if anything, was seized.
What Authorities Want to Make Clear
The Pima County Sheriff's Department quickly addressed speculation, telling TMZ that detectives from multiple units are assisting and that "this does not mean an acronym or unit name on the shirt is indicative of a particular crime associated with this case."
Officials also stressed that there is no suspect or person of interest at this time. Nanos added that investigators have no reason to believe Nancy is deceased.
Public Reactions Add Another Layer
As attention intensified, Camron Guthrie, Savannah's brother, was photographed for the first time since their mother went missing while arriving at Annie's home, according to Page Six.
Online reactions were swift and emotional. One commenter said, "Leave them alone and just pray." Another wrote, "The eyes Chico, they never lie… 😬."
Others focused on Camron's expression. "Is he smiling?" one person asked. "Something is fishy!!!!" another commented. "Smiling????? Something isn't setting right here!!!!," a Facebooker added while another questioned, "Smiling, really?" A final comment read, "What an odd expression on his face."
Where the Case Stands Now
Investigators say they are throwing everything they have at the case, carefully retracing each hour, each movement, and each unanswered gap.
For now, the case remains painfully unresolved, suspended in the narrow space between what is known and what still refuses to come into focus.
Authorities continue to stress that no one has been accused, even as investigators circle back through Nancy's final hours with increasing precision.
What was once a single tragic disappearance has become a story defined by gaps, revisions, and quiet law enforcement moves that suggest just how seriously officials are taking every detail. Each clarification has narrowed the timeline, but not the mystery.
