What Happened to King Harris

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred on April 12, 2026, in Peachtree Corners after officers spotted a camo-wrapped Tesla Cybertruck speeding near Holcomb Bridge Road.

Police said they reached speeds of up to 80 mph while attempting to catch the vehicle, which was later clocked at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Bodycam footage shows the officer telling King he was "absolutely flying down the road" before initiating the stop. What started as a routine pull-over quickly took a different turn.

Authorities said they observed a firearm on the dashboard and an open THC container in the center console. That discovery immediately heightened concerns at the scene.

He initially refused to exit the vehicle, questioning the request and asking, "You want me to get out my car to talk to me? About what?" Officers warned him he could face obstruction charges if he did not comply.

The exchange stretched on for several minutes, with tensions continuing to rise. After contacting his lawyer by phone, King eventually stepped out of the vehicle, but the exchange left a lasting impression.

During the arrest, King continued to question officers, at one point asking, "Did it make you feel tough?" An officer replied, "Oh, it did give me some paperwork."

Later, from the back of the patrol car, he added, "What happened at home with y'all?" — a remark that reflected the strained tone of the encounter.

The situation shifted when his father, rapper T.I., arrived at the scene. His approach, however, stood apart from what came before.

That response soon became a focal point online.

According to WSB-TV Atlanta, police said the encounter began in October 2024 near a gas station when King pulled into traffic in front of an officer, nearly colliding with a patrol vehicle and prompting a stop.

Authorities reported smelling marijuana coming from the car and noted that King had a firearm on his hip during the interaction.

As officers checked his information, they determined he had an outstanding warrant out of Pickens County for failing to appear in court, which led to his arrest.

The arresting officer said in the incident report:

"I informed Mr. Harris that I would need to speak with him outside and opened the driver-side door. Mr. Harris was cooperative, and I removed the firearm from his hip with no issue. I then had Mr. Harris step out of the vehicle and I detained him by placing handcuffs on him. I escorted Mr. Harris to my patrol vehicle, conducted a pat down, and placed him into the rear of my vehicle."

He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail, while another person in the vehicle received a citation for marijuana possession but was not taken into custody.

King is expected to address the obstruction and felony drug possession charges in court after his April 12 run-in with the law.
