The former talk show host has never been shy about getting personal, but her latest photos reveal her transformation with unusual honesty.

On July 18, 2026, Ricki Lake celebrated two years since undergoing a facelift by posting images from several points in the process. She included close comparisons and two recent selfies without makeup or filters, saving some of the most striking views for the final slides.

Her 40-Pound Weight Loss Left One Change She Could Not Ignore

In her post, Lake explained that the surgery followed a year in which she had lost 40 pounds. Although she felt proud of that accomplishment, the extra skin beneath her chin remained.

"Back in 2023, I had lost 40 lbs over the course of a year, and did not like the extra skin that hung from below my chin. It was never going to tighten up by itself," she wrote.

Her admission was direct, without pretending that exercise or another diet could address every physical change. After putting so much effort into transforming her health, she chose surgery for the one concern that would not respond to those efforts.

Lake had already discussed that choice during a May 2026 appearance on Maury Povich's podcast, "On Par with Maury Povich." The two former daytime hosts spoke about their careers and how they now approach aging, health, and appearance.

During the conversation, Lake clarified that she had not used GLP-1 medication to lose the 40 pounds. However, she was careful not to criticize anyone who chooses that option.

"Not that there's anything wrong with them," she told Povich. "I have to preface by saying there's nothing wrong with anybody doing whatever they want to do to their bodies."

Lake said she was 53 when she adopted a keto-style eating plan and began intermittent fasting alongside her now-husband, Ross Burningham. Her routine also included a three-mile hike each morning and Pilates three or four times per week.

The daily hike eventually became a form of meditation for her. Meanwhile, she used a glucose monitor for six months and tracked information through her watch and an Oura Ring as she learned how her body responded.

Still, her double chin did not disappear with the weight. Lake told Povich that she accepted her age while also acknowledging that the loose skin genuinely bothered her.

A close friend eventually helped change her mind about surgery. That friend had thoroughly researched a plastic surgeon, undergone a procedure herself, and looked impressive when Lake saw her only eight days later.

That firsthand look eased some of Lake's uncertainty. She described the eventual operation as a leap of faith, but two years later, she made it clear that she does not regret taking it.

Her Weight Has Been a Public Conversation for Decades

Still, Lake's relationship with weight and body image stretches back long before her recent 40-pound loss or her facelift surgery. In 2008, at age 40, she said she had dropped 140 pounds from her highest recorded weight of 270 pounds.

At the time, Lake told People that she had reached a size small without weight-loss surgery. She credited activity and careful eating, although she also admitted that maintaining the change came with pressure.

"I didn't have surgery and I worked hard. There's no secret. I'm active. I watch what I eat."

Lake rejected the idea that her body matched Hollywood's narrow definition of thin, describing herself instead as a "normal girl." She also recognized the contradiction between resisting an unhealthy fixation on weight and still wanting to lose more.

Her perspective at the time was refreshingly realistic. Lake would not promise that her weight could never change again, especially if a painful event affected her habits.

"With the weight stuff I don't have any answers," she said. "Something tragic in my life could happen and I could balloon and gain weight. I can't promise I will be like this forever."

Those remarks add context to her current openness. Lake has spent much of her adult life discussing a body that has changed repeatedly, and she has rarely presented those changes as effortless.

Her career placed her appearance under scrutiny from an early age. Born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, Lake performed professionally as a child before transferring to the Professional Children's School in New York City to concentrate on acting.

After attending Ithaca College for one year, she received an audition opportunity during final exams. She landed the role of Tracy Turnblad, a noticeably bigger girl, in John Waters' "Hairspray," which became her film debut in 1988.

Lake later appeared in additional movies and held a recurring role on "China Beach." In 1993, she was selected from approximately 100 candidates to host her own daytime program, "Ricki Lake," bringing her face into viewers' homes for years.

Her biography also recounts an earlier 125-pound loss after a difficult period in her life. That history makes her newest transformation part of a much longer and more complicated relationship with her self-image.

She Celebrated Her Surgery Anniversary With Full Transparency

That's why Lake opened her Instagram carousel with a photograph of a monitor displaying her appearance before and after surgery. Rather than presenting only the polished outcome, she allowed followers to see what had bothered her enough to seek help from a surgeon.

The next image provided an unobstructed view of her face before the operation. Loose skin was visible around her lower face and beneath her chin, a change she connected to her substantial weight loss.

Another side-by-side photograph gave a closer look at how her skin appeared following the procedure. The comparison made the difference easier to see, yet Lake emphasized that she had wanted an outcome that still felt like her.

"Happy 2 year anniversary to me. Yes, 2 years ago today, I had a face lift," she wrote in the July 18 post.

She then identified exactly what she had done: a deep-plane lower face and neck lift, accompanied by a mild CO2 laser treatment. Dr. Allen Foulad performed the surgery, and Lake credited his approach with making the experience positive.

"My incredibly talented and kind surgeon, Dr. Allen Foulad @drallenfoulad made the experience a wonderful one and my results have been remarkable, natural, and long-lasting."

The carousel did more than place two portraits beside each other. One other photograph showed Lake studying her reflection in a mirror while visiting Foulad's office, capturing a quieter point in the process before the celebratory images appeared.

A later office photo showed both Lake and her surgeon smiling. She looked noticeably more relaxed, offering fans a glimpse at how she felt about the decision once enough time had passed for her results to settle.

The Final Selfies Show How She Looks at 57

After the clinical comparisons and photographs from her surgeon's office, Lake ended the carousel with two recent selfies. Both were shared without makeup or a filter, giving followers the clearest look at her face two years after the operation.

One image placed her against a picturesque backdrop that appeared to be near a coastal setting. She looked peaceful and at ease, with the photograph feeling far removed from the monitor image that opened the carousel.

The final selfie was taken on a balcony in New York City. At 57, Lake looked fresh-faced as the skyline stretched behind her, closing the collection with the result she described as natural and long-lasting.

Those last photographs also matched what Lake told Povich about her life now. "I feel good in my body. I don't have pain. I feel youthful, and I'm really happy. Like, I'm a really happy person," she said.

This carousel does not hide the loose skin that prompted her surgery or skip directly to a carefully styled reveal. It lets the before images, the healing journey, and her bare-faced appearance two years later speak for themselves.
