Wolfgang Explained the Work Behind His Transformation

During a November 2025 episode of "Rolling Stone Music Now," Wolfgang discussed his health journey without presenting it as a complicated secret. His approach centered largely on eating differently while keeping up with the physical demands of performing.

"I've just been focused more on just trying to eat healthfully and just take care of myself," he told Rolling Stone. "My job is a very active job. Touring is a very active job, and I've found that if you just kind of perfect your diet, that's the stuff that people hate to hear."

Wolfgang said nutrition had mattered even more than working out in his experience. "But in terms of getting healthier, it really starts with diet, more even than exercise," he explained.

"I think I'm down like 60 pounds over the last year and a half, two years, just from really locking in," he added.

That openness does not mean Wolfgang welcomes every observation about his appearance. He also recalled the cruel comments posted after People shared content from his wedding, which should have remained one of the happiest occasions of his life.

"The amount of, like, at-home mothers just lambasting me by the thousands," he said. "It's just like, what the [expletive] is wrong with you?"

Wolfgang found the source of the remarks especially bewildering. "It was really insane to have one of the happiest moments in my life be put up for every Karen on the planet to just share whatever they felt," he explained.

He decided to separate himself from that negativity and concentrate on his own well-being. The recent family photograph reflects the outcome of that effort, although its most important feature may be the obvious comfort shared among its three subjects.

Valerie Has Also Reconsidered Her Relationship With Weight

Wolfgang is not the only person in the family who has experienced changing weight and unwanted public scrutiny. Valerie has spent decades hearing opinions about her body, but she entered her mid-60s with a much more forgiving attitude toward herself.

While promoting her memoir "Getting Naked" in March 2026, Valerie told People that she had embraced being "perfectly imperfect." She even posed nude for the book's cover, turning its title into a cheeky invitation to become emotionally and physically exposed.

At 66, Valerie measured health through what her body allowed her to do. She could climb stairs, carry her 35-pound dog Luna after the animal underwent an amputation, and remain standing through two hours of Wolfgang performing.

"And I can stand watching my son for two hours on stage, and it's heaven," she said.

Valerie occasionally steps on a scale, particularly when her clothes fit differently after the holidays, but she no longer wants a number to control her mood. That freedom took years to develop after being told that her body was not good enough unless she weighed 110 pounds.

"Yes at 15, but no, I'll never see that weight again and I don't need to," she said. "Because that's underweight."

Valerie also revealed that stress caused her to become much thinner than she wanted in 2024. She now prefers the middle ground she has found, where her clothes fit comfortably, and a little softness no longer feels like a problem requiring correction.

"I'm finally at a comfortable place where my clothes fit. They're not too big. They're not too small. I'm just normal. Even though I have a little pooch, who cares?"

A Bikini Selfie Documented a Quieter Victory

Valerie had offered an earlier glimpse of that acceptance in December 2024. Standing before a hotel bathroom mirror in a bikini, she photographed the body she had spent so much of her life judging.

"At some point I will talk about the madness my body has been through this year," Valerie wrote beside the selfie. "But right now every lump bump wrinkle and saggy part of me just feels acceptance and simple appreciation to be standing in front of a mirror in a hotel bathroom in downtown Manhattan ready to color my roots late on a Monday night."

Clearly, now that she's older and wiser, Valerie was grateful to be present in her body instead of treating it as an endless renovation project.
