Inside the $57M Beverly Hills Estate Where Meghan and Harry First Sheltered in the US — Photos
A Beverly Hills mansion that sheltered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during one of the most turbulent chapters of their lives is back in the spotlight — this time with a staggering $57 million price tag.
Hidden behind guarded gates, the sprawling California estate became a temporary sanctuary for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their young son after they arrived in the United States.
Property photos offer a rare glimpse inside the lavish home and reveal the extraordinary setting behind a friendship that would ultimately become part of the Sussex family story.
The nine-bedroom, 15-bathroom mansion belonged to Hollywood powerhouse Tyler Perry, who stepped in when, according to Meghan, the couple "didn't have a plan."
Inside the $57 Million Estate
The property at 10 Beverly Ridge Terrace in Beverly Hills was listed for $57 million on Sept. 29, 2026. Known as Chateau Reve, the Mediterranean-style residence was built in 2012 and sits behind 24-hour guard-gated security.
The scale is breathtaking. The listing advertises nine bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms, and 24,592 square feet of interior space. Its property description says the estate stretches across 22.5 gated acres, although the detailed lot information lists 19.02 acres, or 828,413 square feet.
The description also puts the residence at 25,592 square feet, while the listed floor area is 24,592 square feet. At its heart is a soaring central foyer and sweeping curved staircase, with the home arranged in a symmetrical butterfly floor plan.
Formal spaces include a living room, dining room, private study, family room, and chef's kitchen with a butler's pantry. Expansive outdoor terraces and separate service areas were also designed with staff in mind. Four en-suite guest bedrooms occupy two wings of the residence.
Elsewhere are a gym with a steam shower, music hall, wine storage, and staff accommodations. The primary suite takes the luxury even further, with its own fireplace, secluded deck, sitting room, two spa-inspired bathrooms, individual walk-in closets, and dedicated massage and salon rooms.
A Private Theater, Pool, and Canyon Views
Entertainment dominates another section of the mansion. Upstairs is a 24-seat home theater, along with a bar, entertainment lounge, and game room.
Two additional en-suite bedrooms on the upper level have private balconies overlooking the sprawling grounds and canyon views beyond — hardwood and tile flooring run throughout the house, which also boasts high ceilings and an elevator.
Fireplaces are found in the family room, living room, primary bedroom, and another area of the residence. The kitchen includes a double oven and gas cooktop, along with a dishwasher, dryer, freezer, garbage disposal, hood fan, range/oven, refrigerator, and washer.
Outside is a private heated in-ground pool and heated spa, surrounded by covered and open patio spaces with canyon and treetop views. Parking is equally substantial. The listing records six garage or parking spaces and describes an attached garage with direct entry, private driveway, and guest parking.
The two-story home has central heating and multi-zone central cooling. Its $57 million asking price works out to $2,318 per square foot, according to the listing, while association fees run $3,100 a month.
The property is being sold unfurnished. Those details alone make Chateau Reve an imposing Beverly Hills listing. But its connection to Harry and Meghan began when the couple's own living situation was anything but settled.
A Temporary Refuge at a Critical Moment
Harry and Meghan stayed at the estate in 2020 after stepping back as senior members of the British royal family. Before reaching Los Angeles, the couple had been living in a house on Vancouver Island in western Canada.
They later explained that the location of the home had become publicly known. At the same time, Harry said they learned that their security arrangements were about to change.
And the crisis was unfolding just as the COVID-19 pandemic was rapidly closing borders and upending international travel. Amid that uncertainty, someone offered the family a home in Los Angeles — and security. That person was Tyler Perry.

The filmmaker, actor, writer, producer, and entertainment mogul opened his Beverly Hills property to Harry, Meghan, and their son Archie. According to a BBC report on the couple's account, Perry reportedly allowed them to stay in one of his Hollywood mansions for free and offered the use of his security.
Meghan later summed up just how uncertain their future had been. "We didn't have a plan," she said. The extraordinary offer gave the family somewhere to stay while they figured out their next move.
"We needed a house, and he [Tyler Perry] offered his security as well, so it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do," Meghan said. Harry described why leaving Canada had suddenly become urgent.

"The biggest concern was while we were in Canada, in someone else's house, I then got told, [at] short notice, that security was going to be removed," he said. Then came another terrifying possibility: Borders could close as the pandemic intensified.
"So suddenly it dawned on me: 'Hang on a second, the borders could be closed, we're going to have our security removed, who knows how long lockdown is going to be, the world knows where we are, it's not safe, it's not secure, we probably need to get out of here,'" Harry said.
Perry's Beverly Hills estate became the family's temporary base after their move to California. The newly released listing photos now offer a far more revealing look at the place where that dramatic chapter unfolded.

Privacy Behind the Gates Was Shattered
Security is one of the estate's defining features. It sits in a gated community with a guard and 24-hour security, while the sprawling grounds create considerable distance from the surrounding area. Yet Harry and Meghan's stay did not remain entirely private.
By July 2020, the couple had gone to court over allegations that photographers had invaded their privacy at their Los Angeles home.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Harry and Meghan filed an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court after alleging that their then-14-month-old son, Archie, had been photographed in the backyard.
The defendants were initially unnamed because the couple said they did not know who had taken the photographs. The lawsuit was intended to allow them to use subpoenas to identify people selling or distributing the images.
California law prohibited photographing or filming people inside their homes using equipment such as drones or telephoto lenses. The couple's attorney, Michael J. Kump, said the case centered on that protection.
"Every individual and family member in California is guaranteed by law the right to privacy in their home," Kump said.
The Sussexes Said Paparazzi Had Crossed a Red Line
The complaint described drones and photographers pursuing the family, as well as helicopters flying over the property. It also alleged that photographers had cut holes in security fencing.
Harry and Meghan said they understood that photographers could follow them in public. Their legal action, however, drew a stark distinction between public scrutiny and what allegedly happened at home.
"The family has tried to ignore these physical and constructive trespasses as best they can. ... But the plaintiffs recently learned that certain paparazzi and their enablers have crossed a red line for any parent," the couple said in their suit.
At the time, Harry and Meghan were also beginning work on Archewell after dropping earlier plans for a foundation called Sussex Royal.
They had been photographed delivering food to people in need in Los Angeles and had worked to promote the nonprofit Homeboy Industries. The Beverly Hills mansion, however, was always a temporary refuge.
From Beverly Hills to Santa Barbara
By the summer of 2020, Harry and Meghan had found a permanent California home. A spokesperson confirmed to ABC News that the couple and Archie had moved to Santa Barbara.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their family home in July of this year," the spokesperson said at the time. The statement added that they had settled into the privacy of the community and hoped that privacy would be respected for their family and their neighbors.
Santa Barbara lies about 95 miles north of Los Angeles. Nearby Montecito was already home to Oprah Winfrey, a friend of Harry and Meghan. Before the move, the Sussexes had spent the pandemic's stay-at-home period at their temporary Los Angeles residence.
They made no official in-person appearances during that period but appeared in recorded messages and video calls. Their departure ended their stay at Perry's mansion — but it did not end their connection with him. The relationship would soon become far more personal.
Perry Became Part of Their Family
After leaving the Beverly Hills estate, Harry and Meghan remained friends with Perry. Their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, was born in June 2021. The couple later asked the man who had given them a home during their uncertain arrival in America to become Lili's godfather.
Perry discussed the request in the Netflix documentary series about Harry and Meghan, according to a 2022 "Good Morning America" report. "We'll call and we'll chat and we'll talk about silly things, and they were pretty serious on the phone. I go, 'Okay, what's going on?" Perry recalled.
Then came the request. "They said, 'Well, we'd like for you to be Lili's godfather.' I go, 'Whoa.' I had to take a minute to take that in. And I thought, 'I'd be honored. I'd absolutely be honored,'" he said. Perry said he ended the call before another thought struck him, prompting him to call the couple back.
"I go, 'Uh, hold on a second. Does this mean we got to go over there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all that out? Because I don't want to do that.' Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then that's OK," he recalled.
It was a remarkable development in a relationship that had begun with an enormous practical gesture. Perry had given Harry and Meghan a house and security when they needed both. Years later, they asked him to take on a lasting role in their daughter's life.
But the Sussexes were not the only famous guests connected to Perry's Beverly Hills home.

The Mansion's Presidential Connection
Five years before Harry and Meghan moved in, Perry's home was linked to another globally recognizable figure. Then-President Barack Obama traveled to Southern California in June 2015 for Democratic National Committee fundraising events.
According to CBS News Los Angeles, Obama was scheduled to attend two fundraisers during the trip. One was a roundtable discussion hosted by producer and director Chuck Lorre in Pacific Palisades.
The second was a reception and dinner at Tyler Perry's Beverly Hills home. Five years later, the estate would become Prince Harry and Meghan's temporary refuge as they began building a new life in California. Now, more than six years after the Sussexes' stay, the mansion is entering yet another chapter.
Why Perry Is Making a Major Change
The property's Sept. 29 listing came shortly after Perry publicly revealed plans for a major move of his own. Perry turned 57 on Sept. 13, 2026. The following day, he spoke about his future during an interview with Today special correspondent Justin Sylvester.
The entertainment mogul, long associated with Atlanta and his vast production empire there, revealed that he was preparing to relocate. "Yes, I am officially — you're the first to hear this — I am officially moving to Puerto Rico," Perry told Today. "No, this is real."

Perry said the move is expected at the beginning of 2027. "Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I'm pulling back a whole lot," he said. Asked why, Perry pointed to his age and his desire to spend more time with his son, Aman.
"Oh, getting older," he said. "It's time to slow down a little bit, enjoy more time with my son, and just take it all in." Perry shares his 11-year-old son with former partner Gelila Bekele. He also spoke about how fatherhood had affected him after difficult experiences during his own childhood.
"Having this opportunity and this moment to be a father and give him all the love that I never had has been really, really healing," Perry said. Two weeks after that interview, Chateau Reve hit the market.

The listing does not say why Perry is selling the estate, meaning no direct connection can be established between his planned relocation and the decision to sell. But the timing is clear: Perry announced his plans to move to Puerto Rico in mid-September, and the Beverly Hills mansion was listed on September 29.
