"Vera Wang, you've been at so many people's weddings. In spirit. Anyway, how are you aging so well? People want to know what have you done?"

His assessment was actually rather restrained.

"Well, you know what? There's a good chance that besides your nose, maybe a long time ago, which I think was possible, I don't think you've had a ton of work done."

Dr. Spiegel even pointed to the fullness around Vera's eyes as one reason he did not believe she had undergone extensive cosmetic work. He said, "How do we know? Well, a lot of fullness around the eyes, upper and lower. That's one of the first things that starts to show signs of aging."

Then came what may be the far less scandalous explanation. "But how come otherwise you look so good? Well, there's a good chance it's good genetics." Dr. Spiegel continued.

He explained that changes in facial fat can contribute to an older appearance, adding that some people naturally retain more facial fullness for longer. He also discussed maintenance and biostimulating fillers generally before suggesting Vera's genetics and energy could be doing plenty of the heavy lifting.

Vera has never confirmed that she underwent the procedure Spiegel speculated about, and really, "good genetics" is not nearly as juicy as a secret cosmetic overhaul, but people still wonder.

Plenty of People Are Not Buying the 'Work Keeps Me Young' Explanation

Vera has actually been quite open about what she believes keeps her looking and feeling youthful, and her answer is less about chasing some magical beauty trick than keeping her calendar very, very full.

Speaking to Page Six in 2023, the designer credited decades of hard work with helping her stay energized. "Basically, I’ve worked my whole life, so it’s really been about work," Vera said. "I think work keeps you young and stimulated."

She added, "I work very long hours, I’ve raised two daughters. I think keeping busy is the best antidote [for] good health." It is a wonderfully Vera answer: keep moving, keep creating, and apparently do not even think about slowing down.

But while Vera sees work as one ingredient in her youthful energy, some people looking at her remarkably smooth appearance believe there has to be more to the story.

In a YouTube video discussing her comments, Neal K. Shah talked about the idea that remaining professionally active helps Vera stay young. Neal, who describes himself as "America's Chief Elder Officer," is the CEO of CareYaya and identifies himself as a Johns Hopkins and NIH-funded researcher, caregiver, entertainer, and advocate rather than a medical doctor.

He also noted that Vera has access to help and support in multiple parts of her life. That was apparently the opening some viewers needed, because the comments became considerably less diplomatic.

One person wrote, "plastic surgery makes her look young work keeps her mind strong [sic]." Another went much further: "She had lots of plastic surgery. I don’t care if people want it but it’s unfair to tell others, who may not be able to afford to have a facelift, that they should look like her at 70! Sorry that is a problem with the elite these days [sic]."

Someone else simply declared, "She definitely did not look like that several years ago 😮." And another commenter was equally unconvinced: "Vera Wang look at pics fm 20 yrs ago. She looked older then. Come on she got help with hundreds of thousands of dollars. [sic]"

Those are opinions from commenters, not proof of any procedure, and Vera's appearance alone cannot establish what she has or has not done.
