Kensington Palace Releases New Photo of Catherine, Princess of Wales, Taken by Prince Louis
The Princess of Wales honored World Cancer Day by sharing a new photograph captured by her youngest son, Prince Louis, offering a glimpse into the six-year-old's developing photographic skills.
Kensington Palace released a photo on Tuesday, February 4, featuring Princess Catherine, 43, standing on a tree trunk in a frost-covered woodland, smiling warmly at the camera. The personal snapshot, captured by Prince Louis, was shared on the royal couple’s social media accounts alongside a message promoting cancer awareness.
A second image accompanied the post with the same words as the caption, which read, "Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease."
The photograph follows Catherine’s recent announcement that she was in remission from cancer. In a heartfelt social media post from early January, she expressed relief and gratitude for the care she received at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
"As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead," she shared.
This update comes nearly a year after she first disclosed her diagnosis and began treatment. In September 2024, Catherine announced she had completed chemotherapy, describing the experience as "tough" but filled with "hope and appreciation for life."
She acknowledged the challenges of a cancer journey while emphasizing the support from Prince William and the public. She ended the post with, "Out of darkness, can come light so let that light shine bright."
The royal family’s post featuring Prince Louis’ photo received an outpouring of love from fans and well-wishers. Many commented on the young prince’s talent and sent their regards to the princess.
One fan wrote, "Wonderful picture taking Prince Louis! I pray Princess Catherine is continuing to do well! Sending well wishes to the whole family from America!" Another admirer remarked, "The apple 🍏 doesn’t fall far from the tree 🌲. Prince Louis gets it from his momma! 📸👏🏻."
A third comment read, "Best wishes to HRH. You are an example of strength, courage, and love.☀️🍀💞" Others were moved by the significance of the moment, with one user writing, "This photo and message are a true source of peace! 🌍💫 It's so special to see the world through Prince Louis’s eyes. Love and beauty are reflected in every detail! 💖."
The Princess of Wales’s love for photography is well known. She pursued art history studies at the University of St. Andrews and currently supports various arts organizations. These include institutions like the National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Royal Photographic Society.
Kensington Palace previously announced her role as patron of the Royal Photographic Society back in 2019. The position, which was previously held by Queen Elizabeth II for 67 years, further highlights Catherine’s commitment to using photography as a means to inspire and connect people.
Over the years, she has captured and shared numerous personal portraits of her children, including their official birthday photographs.
In 2020, she launched "Hold Still," a photography project that documented the experiences of people in the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative resulted in a published book, with proceeds supporting mental health and arts projects.
As the princess continues her recovery, this latest image serves as a reminder of resilience, family support, and the power of photography.
