Little John took his first breath on June 15, 2023, only days before Father’s Day. His father shared photos on Instagram captured just moments after his birth. In the first, his mother, Allie, cradled his delicate body as she shared a kiss with his dad.

Alongside the short carousel, Will wrote, “John Keats Kopelman 💙, born at sunrise 6/15/2023. Keats, Allie’s middle name, and long-standing family name dating back to poet John Keats. Mom and baby are healthy and well…we’re over the moon for this little guy.”

In a joint Instagram post with retail brand Over the Moon, a few months after the announcement, Allie revealed more details about John’s roots; he shares his birthday with his maternal grandfather.

“It is an amazing circle of life moment, as I was born the evening of my grandfather's memorial service,” she said. Although she sadly never met her grandfather, she hoped John would inherit some of his great-grandfather’s qualities she was told he possessed, including humility and a sense of humor.

John Keats Kopelman’s Parents: A Brief Look at Their Romance

John’s parents mostly kept their relationship under wraps before making things official with an engagement announcement. In late January 2021, his father posted a black-and-white photo where he embraced his mother while sweetly planting a kiss on her cheek.

Allie smiled at the camera with her hand placed delicately on Will’s face, revealing her large diamond ring. “Love you love you love you love you 1/30/2021 💍,” Will captioned. The couple tied the knot later that year on August 28.

Two years later, they would welcome John, a boy among many girls on Allie’s side of the family. Still, it was a welcome change for her, as she shared, “I am loving the learning curve!” The first-time mom has enjoyed watching her son grow, as she reflected:

John’s sisters are Frankie, born in April 2014, and Olive, born in September 2012. They were born during his father’s first marriage to actress Drew Barrymore. Will and Drew married in 2012, but separated in 2016.

Despite the separation, they’ve remained on good terms as co-parents to their daughters. In 2023, Drew said her relationship with Will had “never been better” and even referred to Allie as “our wonderful stepmother.”
