14-Year-Old Andrew Roberts Found Dead After Disappearing on a Trip – Details

What began as a summer trip for a teenager ended in tragedy, as a late-night search turned up heartbreaking results and sparked a wave of emotional responses from his school and loved ones.

Andrew Roberts, a 14-year-old from Clearlake, was found dead on the night of June 8, 2025, after going missing during a group trip to Hidden Valley Lake in Lake County, California.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Andrew was last seen around 4:15 p.m. in the Big Beach area. He was part of a group trip and told others he was headed to the pool, but had not been seen or heard from since. This detail was included in the missing juvenile alert issued by the authorities earlier that evening.

Andrew was described as being approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing around 115 pounds, with dark blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a blue "Konocti Pathfinders" shirt, black pants — possibly with blue swim trunks underneath — and carrying a grey backpack.

Following the report of his disappearance, search operations began that evening. At approximately 6:30 p.m., Lake County Search & Rescue deployed personnel to the area along with K9 Sadie.

The sheriff's office confirmed that the search would continue into the night and urged anyone with information to contact them at (707) 263-2690.

At around 10:40 p.m., the North Shore Dive Team located Andrew's body in the Hidden Valley Lake area. In an update posted at 11:00 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff's Office confirmed his death and stated that his next of kin had been notified.

On June 9, 2025, Obsidian Middle School — where Andrew had recently completed the 8th grade — released a public statement that read, "Andrew was 14 years old and had just celebrated his promotion to high school, a milestone he reached with the support and admiration of those around him."

The school described him as "well loved by both staff and peers" and noted that "his kindness, warm spirit, and unique presence left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him."

The statement also mentioned that support services had been made available to students and staff. "We hold Andrew's memory in our hearts and will continue to honor his life in the days ahead," concluded the statement.

In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign was organized by Aimee Foreman to assist Andrew's father, Adam. The fundraiser offers a deeply personal glimpse into the family's loss.

"Adam is a single father and Andrew has been his whole world since the day he was born. Andrew was always willing to help anyone. He was full of energy and a very curious boy. He had a big imagination and he was always aware of everything that was going on around him," penned Aimee on GoFundMe.

The post continued to shed light on Andrew's lively demeanor: "He was never afraid to ask questions, no matter where he was or who you were, and even catch you off guard with some of the crazy questions he had. He would put a smile on anyone's face and even make you laugh."

Describing the father-son bond, Aimee expressed, "All 14 years of his life, it's just been Andrew and his Dad. Andrew's passing was tragic and unexpected, and we just can't imagine the pain Adam feels. Andrew is going to be missed. I will always cherish every minute I got to spend with him."

The fundraiser aims to help cover funeral expenses. At the time of writing, $6,460 of the $7,500 goal has been raised, with more donations expected to pour in soon.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Andrew's death, while the community comes together to honor his memory and support his grieving family.
