Couple Found Dead in North Carolina Home Had Endured Unimaginable Family Heartbreak in the Years Before

A retired Army veteran and his wife were found dead inside their North Carolina home one day after a milestone anniversary. Yet the tragedy inside that house was tied to a much older heartbreak, one that had already changed their family forever.

Investigators identified the couple as Stephen Larnell Willetts and Tracey Parker Willetts. Their deaths shocked the people who regularly saw Stephen outside, but the couple's relatives and longtime friends knew how much loss had followed them through the previous 13 years.
