Celebrity Makeup Artist Travis Renee Baldwin Fatally Shot in Virginia Apartment, Son Suspected
Aside from reports about the tragedy outlining what happened, an outpouring of tributes in honor of the late celebrity makeup artist has ensued from those who knew and loved her.
A tragedy has left a community in Arlington, Virginia, reeling after beloved makeup artist Travis Reenee Baldwin's life was taken. She was 57 years old. News outlet Fox 5 D.C., which also spoke to Baldwin's brother for more details, divulged that Baldwin was shot, and the suspect has since been arrested and charged.
According to details shared, officers with the Arlington County Police Department responded to a distress call just after 8:28 a.m. on August 17, 2025, at an apartment building located along the 3400 block of Fairfax Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered Baldwin suffering from a gunshot wound.
Though she was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, she later succumbed to her injuries. Police believe Baldwin had been shot inside the residence by her son, Logan Chrisinger, who remained at the scene when authorities arrived.
Chrisinger, 27, is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility and was expected to make his first court appearance this week.
According to a Fox 5 reporter, initially, the emergency call had been reported as a possible suicide. However, investigators quickly determined that the physical evidence indicated otherwise — prompting the swift murder charge.

As of now, this marks Arlington County's first homicide investigation of 2025. Speaking to Fox 5, Baldwin's brother revealed that his sister had left their Winchester home around 3:20 a.m. after he believes she received a call from Chrisinger. While she did not share the reason for her visit, Baldwin's brother recalled sensing something was wrong.

He also disclosed that Chrisinger had previously struggled with mental health challenges. Thus, he believes Baldwin — vibrant, as seen on her Facebook profile, and deeply devoted to her faith and family — was trying to help her son in a moment of crisis.
The same reporter who spoke to Baldwin's brother also conversed with a neighbor who witnessed the police response after the incident, while walking her dog. The resident described a sense of unease hanging over the typically peaceful neighborhood that morning. "You can just tell that something's wrong," she noted.

"We're in Arlington. This is a relatively safe area. Nothing really happens here. But you could just feel that something bad happened," the neighbor went on to say.
Authorities continue to ask anyone with information about the case to contact the Arlington County Police Department's Tip Line at 703-228-4180 or email ACPDTipline@arlingtonva.us. As the investigation unfolds, those who knew and worked alongside Baldwin are coming forward to honor her memory and mourn her loss.

Among those to speak out was journalist and lawyer Greta Van Susteren, who shared her heartbreak in a poignant post on X. "What sadness…," she wrote, recalling Baldwin as her trusted makeup artist of three and a half years during her time at Newsmax, and for years before at major networks like ABC and ESPN.
"She did my make up Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her… [sic]."
Also paying tribute was Newsmax White House Producer Marisela Ramirez, who took to X with a moving post accompanied by a candid photo of three smiling women inside a television control room. At the center sat Baldwin, glowing and cheerful, a familiar sight to those who had come to rely on her calm presence and capable hands behind the scenes.
Ramirez identified the moment as one captured after a long day of work, the trio still beaming as they prepared to leave.
Her message, lengthy and tender, painted Baldwin as more than a gifted artist. "Renee had a giving heart and a gypsy spirit but [sic] really she was a quiet warrior, supporting her family and carrying the weight of a household on her shoulders — without complaints," she penned.
Ramirez went on to describe Baldwin's emotional intelligence, her thoughtfulness, and her ability to care for others with the warmth of a mother.
Whether gently playing with a colleague's hair during a difficult conversation or remembering a birthday, Baldwin's presence was one of empathy, light, and unwavering support. "May God guide your soul into his kingdom and bring you peace, Renee. You are loved and will be missed," Ramirez concluded.
Among the many voices honoring Baldwin's life was former client, Tiana Lowe Doescher, who remembered the makeup artist not just for her skill, but for the genuine connection she forged with those in her chair.
She shared that the news of Baldwin's tragic death has weighed heavily on her in the days since, prompting her to reflect on the beauty and kindness that defined Baldwin's presence. Doescher also attached a link to what appears to be a tribute article/page.
Joining in on the dedications, Senior Editor Amber Duke shared her sorrow, recalling the bond she built with Baldwin over their many sessions together. For the past year and a half, Baldwin had done her makeup at Newsmax, occasionally filling in at Rising as well.
Duke described the news of Baldwin's murder as a "shock," and remembered her not only as a talented professional, but as someone whose warmth made ordinary mornings feel special. The editor also spoke about how she looked forward to Fridays — not for the end of the workweek, but for the easy conversations she'd share with Baldwin about pets, travel plans, favorite wines, and harmless gossip.
"She was a kind, generous, funny woman," Duke noted, adding that Baldwin's daily presence had become a highlight she, and many others, will now deeply miss. Another heartfelt remembrance came from Bob McHenry, who wrote, "So sad to hear the passing of my ABC News colleague Renee Baldwin… RIP my [sic] friend."
His message was paired with a cheerful photo of Baldwin smiling with another woman, who posed for the camera next to her. Though the circumstances of her death have left many stunned, the tributes pouring in speak louder than the tragedy. From broadcast studios to private memories shared online, Baldwin's impact is clear — she was more than a makeup artist; she was a light in the lives of those she touched.
At this time, we wish to extend our most heartfelt condolences to Baldwin's brother, all her family members, loved ones, friends, colleagues, clients, community, and all who knew and loved her. We hope for their healing as they mourn such a significant loss. RIP, dear Baldwin.
