In a WhatsApp conversation revealed later, Regio Clown informed his partner that he would be meeting with a group of people, including someone nicknamed "el comandante" (the commander). In that chat he wrote: "I don't trust anyone", and later said "But there is business to be done." He also warned: "Only public places, love, obviously".

Where were the bodies found?

On September 17, local authorities found two bodies along the Mexico-Cuautla highway, near the municipality of Cocotitlan. The Mexico City Prosecutor's Office later confirmed that the bodies belonged to the two Colombian musicians.

Journalist Carlos Jiménez showed images of the site, describing it as a location "without lighting, without cameras, without surveillance... over an hour and a half from Polanco".
