LL Cool J and Simone Smith Faced Cancer Together

LL Cool J, born James Todd Smith, and Simone Smith's relationship began long before fame fully took over their lives. The couple first met in New York in 1987, dated for years, and eventually married in 1995.

But nearly a decade later, Simone's health battle tested their marriage in ways neither expected. Simone was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in 2004.

During an emotional interview with ET, Simone revealed just how deeply LL Cool J supported her throughout the ordeal. She called him her "rock" as she recalled how determined he was to help save her life.

The rapper also became fiercely protective during her recovery. Simone remembered him warning visitors not to bring negativity into her hospital room. "Todd would tell them... 'You can't go in there crying,'" she said. Today, Simone is in remission, but their story still resonates with fans because it showed a side of celebrity love that felt deeply human.

Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert's Divorce Shocked Fans

Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert spent years looking like one of entertainment's coolest couples before their marriage unraveled publicly. Their romance moved quickly after going public. In June 2014, they officially confirmed their relationship on Instagram, and by September, they were already making headlines together at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Then came 2015, when the pair revealed they were expecting a baby, and then announced their engagement just two months later. That is partly why news of their split quickly became a major talking point online. Teyana later reportedly announced on Instagram that she and Iman had already been separated "for a while," while also shutting down speculation about infidelity.

"We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children," she wrote. "Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain't ever played with or about THAT."

The divorce later became even messier after Teyana accused Iman of leaking alleged settlement details following her appearance with Aaron Pierre at Vanity Fair's Oscars after-party. "The parties never entered into any 'Settlement' at all," her filing stated. Their photos now feel worlds away from the courtroom drama that followed.

Looking back now, the couple's photos and television appearances feel especially emotional, knowing everything they endured privately behind the scenes.

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade Fought Through One of Their Most Painful Chapters

Gabrielle Union once admitted that she and Dwyane Wade briefly broke up in 2013 because their demanding schedules created distance in the relationship. "When Dwyane and I broke up briefly in 2013, it was because of distance and scheduling," Gabrielle explained. "I missed some quality togetherness we desperately needed."

The couple eventually reconciled, became engaged later that same year, and married in Miami in 2014. Together, they later built a blended family that includes daughter Kaavia James Union Wade, as well as Dwyane's children and nephew.

But behind the scenes, Gabrielle was also privately battling infertility and emotional trauma connected to the relationship. In a deeply personal reflection about surrogacy, she revealed how devastated she felt after learning Dwyane had fathered a child with another woman during their separation.

Gabrielle heartbreakingly wrote, "The experience of Dwyane having a baby so easily — while I was unable to — left my soul not just broken into pieces, but shattered into fine dust scattering in the wind." Gabrielle also admitted the trauma surrounding that period stayed with her for years. Reflecting on Dwyane fathering a child during their breakup, she revealed:

"In 2013, before we were married, Dwyane had a baby with another woman. It should go without saying that we were not in a good place at the time that child was conceived. But we were doing much better when he finally told me about the pregnancy [...] I have not had words, and even after untold amounts of therapy, I am not sure I have them now."

Blair Underwood once reflected on the lessons he learned while building a life with Désirée DaCosta, whom he considered one of the defining relationships of his adulthood.

The actor also revealed that Désirée eventually taught him an important lesson — that listening sometimes matters more than trying to "fix" everything.
