According to security cameras, the three girls were recorded while they were getting into a white Chevrolet Tracker van with an altered license plate in the town of La Tablada. In the images, Brenda, Morena and Lara are seen waiting on a corner before getting into the vehicle, which then leaves the scene.

Prosecutor Gastón Dupláa reconstructed the route taken by the van: approximately 30 kilometers to the place where the bodies of the victims were finally found in Florencio Varela.

The vehicle was found in a field near Río Turbio and Mar Chiquita, about 700 meters from the scene of the triple crime. The van had been set on fire in that area.

The discovery and the investigation

The bodies were found buried at the bottom of a house in Florencio Varela, after following the phone signal of one of them.

According to the Buenos Aires Minister of Security, Javier Alonso, the young women had been deceived: "They were going to participate in an event to which they had been invited, without knowing that they were falling into a trap of a transnational organization that had perpetrated a strategy to murder them".

In a press conference, Alonso explained: "We called this press conference to communicate that we have found, unfortunately, the lifeless bodies of Morena, Brenda and Lara, the three girls we have been looking for since Saturday".

The official also stated: "We have been identifying the route. From La Matanza (the van) went through Lomas de Zamora and arrived in Florencio Varela. There were DDI teams in CABA, in Bellas Artes, in Quilmes, in Lomas de Zamora, in Florencio Varela, checking cameras for hours until they were able to find this Tracker van that was adulterated. Around two, three o'clock in the morning (Wednesday) we found the bodies. We had to do a thorough job because they were buried in the garden".

Journalist Augusto Telías said that it was "a revenge perpetrated by a transnational criminal gang".

Four people were arrested and charged with aggravated homicide: Miguel Angel Villanueva Silva (27), of Peruvian nationality; and the Argentines Iara Daniela Ibarra (19), Andres Maximiliano Parra (18) and Magali Celeste Gonzalez Guerrero (28).

Family testimonies

The families of Brenda, Morena and Lara made public statements full of pain. They ask the media to show everything that is happening and to raise the call for justice, because they fear that the crime will go unpunished despite the arrests that have already been made in the case.

An aunt of Lara, quite shocked, expressed: "We want justice to be done in the country. They cannot take three girls and kill them the way they killed them".

She detailed that "it is a very difficult moment. My niece was 15 years old, 15, she is a minor. Don't talk nonsense. I ask them to stop showing Lara's picture. There is pain, they do not respect our pain".

In the middle of Lara's aunt's statements to the press, a mourner shouted during the interview: "There are three destroyed families", a sentiment that shows the pain for the death of the young Argentinean girls.

Morena's mother asked: "Don't leave us alone", while Brenda's mother declared that "I only care about justice for my daughter. Let all those who have to pay pay pay. None of the three girls deserved to end up the way they did. I don't care about anything, I want them all to fall. I want them all to go to jail. I want you to help me find them all."

A cousin of Brenda and Morena said: "In my case I can talk about my two cousins who were victims, clearly. My two cousins got involved on the rebound, it seems to me. They were far from that, that's why we believe that she was linked on the rebound".

The same cousin added: "It seems to me that my two cousins were out of work and probably fell into the temptation of easy money. 300 dollars a night, which is nothing nowadays. I know my two cousins and I didn't know their friends".

Antonio, Morena and Brenda's grandfather, said: "There are few words I can say at this moment. The outcome we didn't want to happen, but we were also going to worry if we didn't see them again. If they were taken to another place, like what happened with Loan, who did not appear. But well, that's what our family had to live with. The investigators confirmed that yes, it is them".

The triple crime of Brenda, Morena and Lara has unleashed a wave of indignation in Argentina. The discovery of their bodies, the confirmation that they were deceived and the painful testimony of their families have put the need for justice at the center of the discussion. The relatives insist that "all those responsible must be brought to justice" and that a tragedy that has already destroyed three entire families must not be repeated.
