Jude Law's Ex Responds To Chappell Roan's Claims After Her Daughter Was Left 'In Tears' After Interaction With Artist's Security Guard
A morning of excitement turned into a public nightmare when an 11-year-old girl's breakfast with her mother was interrupted by a menacing security guard. The pop star at the center of the drama claims she didn't see a thing.
The girl was so excited to see one of her favorite singers perform that she had already made a sign for the occasion. She and her mother had tickets to a Chappell Roan concert that evening.

What she couldn't have anticipated was encountering the singer before the show, and when she did, her excitement only grew. But what could have been a dream come true became something else entirely.

But before the show could start, something happened at breakfast that would overshadow the entire trip and eventually pull three celebrities into a very public back-and-forth.
Her mother has now broken her silence. And her side of the story adds a wrinkle that Roan's apology may not fully cover.

The Trip That Went Sideways
Ada Law's birthday present this year was Chappell Roan tickets — Lollapalooza Brasil, São Paulo, March 21. Her mother, Catherine Harding, and stepfather, Brazilian soccer star Jorginho, had made the trip happen.

What none of them planned for was what would go down at the hotel breakfast table before the show even started. By the time evening came, they hadn't gone to the concert at all.
Jorginho was the first to speak up. On March 21, he took to Instagram Stories, posting in both English and Portuguese, and laid out what he said had happened that morning at the Palácio Tangará hotel, where his family and Roan happened to be staying at the same time.

His posts have since expired, but not before the internet had already seen them. His account was simple. Ada had spotted someone across the dining area who looked like it might be Roan.
She walked over to the garden — an open area any guest could access — took a look, and came back to the table. No phone out. No approach. Nothing said. And yet, moments later, a security guard showed up at their table.

According to Jorginho, the guard came in hot, accusing Harding of allowing her daughter to disrespect and harass the singer, threatening to file a formal complaint with the hotel, and delivering the whole speech while Ada sat there falling apart.
"[She] was sitting there in tears [...] My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot," he wrote. He signed off with a message to Roan that didn't mince words: "Without your fans you would be nobody. And to the fans, she does not deserve your affection."

Chappell Roan's Side
As the internet began to buzz, Roan decided to share her half of the story through a video message. The "Pink Pony Club" singer insisted she never even saw a woman and a child at breakfast and certainly didn't order a hit on a fan.
She was quick to point out that the guard in question was not her personal security. She had been sitting at breakfast, completely unaware of them — nobody had come up to her, nobody had bothered her.

She was also clear that she didn't agree with what the guard had done. Penalizing someone based on assumed intentions, with no actual behavior to point to, was not something she stood behind.
And the idea that she hates fans or children? "That is crazy," she said. She closed with an apology to the mother-daughter duo: "If you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."

Clean, considered, and seemingly the end of it. Except Harding had a few things to add.
What Harding Actually Saw
After the singer's response started making the rounds, Harding posted her own video to Instagram. She wasn't aggressive about it, but she was precise, and precision turned out to be the interesting part.

On the guard: not hotel staff, she said. He was there for the artists. Whether he was Roan's personal guard specifically, she couldn't confirm. But he was with her.
On what Ada actually did: Harding had half-jokingly pointed out a woman with long red curly hair passing through the dining area and wondered aloud if it was Roan.

Ada, curious, slipped through the open door to the garden to get a better look. She came back to the table and told her mum she wasn't even sure it had been her. That was the full extent of it.

Then the guard appeared. "From that point, the security guard came over, who, as I said — as my husband said — had a very aggressive tone."
"He said we should not harass people and all these other things, and I did try to explain to him that she was a child and she was just excited to see an artist she liked," Harding said. He told her Ada was badly educated and that she and her mother should know better.

He threatened a formal complaint, and he kept going even after Harding pushed back, pointing out that they were paying guests in a public dining area and had every right to be there.
On whether Roan gave the order, Harding stopped short of saying yes. But she didn't let the question dissolve either. "Even if she did send him or she didn't send him, I don't know, for me it felt like it really overstepped a boundary," she said.

Her broader point was harder to argue with — when someone acts on your behalf, the responsibility doesn't just evaporate because you didn't say the words yourself.
She wrapped up with one last thought directed squarely at Roan: "I hope that maybe if it wasn't her, that maybe she learns not to allow the people who work for her to treat people like this."

A Tale of Two Artists
Here's where the story takes a turn that says more than any statement could. After skipping Roan's concert because the experience was "ruined," Harding posted a pointed comparison to another superstar.

On Sunday, Harding shared photos of Ada smiling alongside Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, who appeared to be staying at the same location. She thanked him for his "kindness," a move that could be interpreted as a direct jab at Roan's camp.

The photo featured Harding and Ada at the festival, standing next to Capaldi. He had his hands on their shoulders. In another frame, it was just Ada and the singer. The girl was grinning as Capaldi gave a thumbs-up.
"Thank you for your kindness," Harding wrote next to the photo of just Ada and the Scottish singer.
No elaboration necessary.

Ada's Background
Ada was born in March 2015, the daughter of Harding and actor Jude Law. The two had dated for around seven months before parting ways, and Law was there shortly after the birth.
Harding, who also goes by Cat Cavelli, has always spoken warmly about their co-parenting arrangement, once saying of Law: "He is a good dad and she sees her brothers and sisters. He takes her out all the time."

On becoming a mother, she was equally candid: "I didn't plan to have a baby. It just happened. It's so exciting being a mum."

Ada is 11 now, and was — until this weekend, at least — a big Chappell Roan fan. Her stepfather's words captured it best: someone who "used to admire" the singer. Whether that changes is anyone's guess.
