Tina Campbell once chose forgiveness after a devastating betrayal, rebuilt her marriage in public, and stayed the course for years. Now that same relationship has reached a very different ending.

For fans who watched Tina and Teddy Campbell weather one of the most painful chapters of their marriage, the divorce filing does not land as a simple celebrity split. It lands as the final turn in a story that already had heartbreak, confession, repair, and a long stretch that seemed to suggest they had made it through.

That is what makes this so striking. The marriage did not collapse at the moment of scandal. It lasted years after that, which makes the road to this ending far more layered than the filing alone suggests.

For longtime fans, the biggest question is not just what happened, but how a marriage that survived so much ultimately reached this point.

The Filing That Brought the Past Back Into View

Trecina "Tina" Campbell, one-half of the gospel duo "Mary Mary," is now facing a major personal change after her husband, Glendon "Teddy" Campbell, officially pulled the plug on their marriage.

Teddy filed for divorce from Tina, his wife of 25 years, on Monday, April 13, 2026. The musician filed the paperwork in Los Angeles County, marking a somber end to a gospel power couple.

According to court documents, the couple married in August 2000 but had already separated in June 2024, meaning the marriage had already been over in practice for nearly two years before the filing became public.

Of their five children, two — Santana, 13, and Glendon Theodore II, 16 are minors, and Teddy has requested "child visitation (parenting time)."

He also asked the court to resolve any spousal support matters later, while indicating there are no property disputes currently requiring division. In the document, he included his reason for seeking divorce.

On paper, the filing appears straightforward. But their history tells a far more complicated story.

The Affair That Nearly Ended the Marriage

Long before the divorce filing, Tina had already spoken publicly about one of the darkest periods in the relationship: her husband's infidelity.

In the account she shared, the information did not come to her in one sudden blow. Someone close had been watching her on her reality television show, listening as she spoke about wanting a simple life with her husband, even if it meant walking away from everything else.

That person chose not to speak immediately. Instead, they spent six months verifying what they had found, making sure it was true before saying anything at all. When they finally did, the warning was clear: do not stop what you are doing — you may need to take care of yourself and your children.

Teddy had been cheating on her, not with one but two different women. Before confronting anyone else, she went straight to her husband.

While in New York, she called him and laid everything out — not as an accusation, but as a chance to tell the truth and work through whatever was happening. The conversation stretched on for one hour and eight minutes, but nothing concrete came back.

What followed made the situation even more complicated. One of the women was not a stranger.

"She used to work for me, and so that broke my heart. She was like a godmother to my children. She had access to my home, to come get my kids and all that kind of stuff, was very, you know, intermixed in our family," she shared.

That detail alone changed the scale of the betrayal. The confrontation came at home, on Super Bowl Sunday. Upstairs, face-to-face, she questioned Teddy directly — and he denied everything. So the moment escalated.

Tina had no choice but to demand that Teddy call the woman in her presence. He did, and Tina took the moment further. "I said, 'Are you sleeping with my husband?' And she hung up the phone."

For Tina, that was the answer. The aftermath did not unfold quietly. The discovery hit hard, triggering a period of intense anger and reaction — damaged property, destroyed cars, and thoughts that reflected just how far the situation had pushed her. It was a breaking point.

Then came a shift in perspective that would define what happened next. At some point in that spiral, the realization set in: she was "practicing dying every day."

From there, the choice became unavoidable — continue down that path, or choose something different. In her words, it came down to whether she was going to "die wrong or live right."

The Choice to Forgive

Surprisingly, that was not the end of the marriage. In 2015, Tina and Teddy made a very public decision to stay together and to recommit to their marriage.

They renewed their vows, a moment captured on their reality series "Mary Mary," turning what had been a private crisis into a visible act of rebuilding.

In footage tied to the vow renewal, Tina made it clear that she was not interested in shaping her choices around public approval. She said, "I don't care what anybody thinks I chose to forgive because unforgiveness kept me miserable."

She did not soften that position when the subject of criticism came up again. Tina also said, "Why would I let the whole world see my failure and not let the world see the rebuilding?"

Those comments were especially pointed because by then, their private pain had already become part of their public story. Their reality show had exposed the damage, and Tina was making it clear that if people had watched the collapse, they could also watch the repair.

In that same stretch, Tina also pushed back against the constant conversation around the affair. She said that if she could forgive her husband, who had actually betrayed her, then she was not going to hold a grudge against the other woman because, as she put it, that woman "didn't cheat on me."

It was a striking position, and it underscored just how committed Tina was to moving forward rather than staying trapped in the same wound.

The Years That Followed

This was not a case where a couple briefly tried to patch things up and then immediately split. They stayed together. They kept raising their family. And Tina continued to speak about Teddy in a way that suggested the marriage had found steadier ground.

By February 2019, she was publicly celebrating him on Instagram for his birthday. In that post, she wrote, "You are certainly a priceless gift to this home."

That line matters because it came four years after the vow renewal, not before it. It showed that the language of repair had carried into later years of the marriage.

From the outside, that post looked like the kind of message that comes from a couple who had made it through their hardest chapter and were still standing.

What Is the Reason for the Divorce?

According to TMZ, Teddy cited "irreconcilable differences."

It is a routine legal phrase, and in many cases it reveals very little. Here, though, it lands after years of very specific history.

This was a marriage that had already absorbed infidelity and survived it. Tina had confronted the affair head-on, spoken publicly about the damage, renewed her vows, defended her choice to forgive, and years later was still calling Teddy "a priceless gift" to their home.

That is what gives the filing its weight. The marriage did not end at the moment many people might have expected. It lasted long after that.

And in the end, after more than two decades, two minor children, a public rebuilding, and years of staying together, the cause listed for the divorce was simply "irreconcilable differences."
