For years, the U.S. President has surrounded himself with fierce loyalists, but one aide's quiet presence has reportedly become impossible to overlook. Behind the scenes, her role grew from carrying papers and positive press to something far more personal, and far more eyebrow-raising…

At first, Natalie Harp's role seemed simple enough: a quiet assistant nearby, a laptop open, ready to print, search, fetch, and listen. But according to new reporting and recent books, her access to Donald Trump became something much more intriguing.

Harp, who is in her early 30s, has kept a relatively low public profile while becoming one of Trump's closest aides.

A Quiet Aide Became One of Trump's Most Constant Presences

According to People, the new book "Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump" claims Harp controlled much of the flow of information reaching the president.

The book, written by New York Times Journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, reportedly relies on more than 1,000 interviews with hundreds of people from spring 2023 through spring 2026.

That kind of access alone would make Harp an interesting figure. But what really makes the story sparkle with intrigue is how personal the relationship between aide and boss allegedly became.

Harp's role reportedly grew after Trump's 2024 return to Washington, where she became an "ever-present" figure in his orbit. According to "Regime Change," she handled quick searches, printed flattering coverage, and helped shape the stream of material reaching him. | Source: Getty Images

Harp joined Trump in his post-presidency life at Mar-a-Lago after previously working as a TV personality for Fox News and One America News Network.

From there, the book describes her as a constant presence around Trump, including on the golf course. She reportedly supplied him "with a fresh stream of positive news stories and social media comments that she would often read aloud and later follow up with copies from the portable printer she carried around."

That portable printer detail may sound almost comical, but it became central to her image. In fact, another report called Harp Trump's "human printer," and suggested the nickname was not just a cute bit of staff shorthand.

As per The Daily Beast, Author Michael Wolff said Harp filters everything Trump reads in a role that included typing out his Truth Social posts and printing his daily reading material. "Everything that he reads is funneled through Natalie Harp because she's the human printer," Wolff said.

He added, "The stuff that she prints out is this laudatory stuff. Anything laudatory, she's searching for at all times and then giving to the president." That is where the story gets even more fascinating…

Inside the Oval Office, Harp's Role Reportedly Became Even More Powerful

Wolff claimed Harp not only passed along flattering press; she also reportedly included personal notes in the papers she gave Trump. "In this pile of papers, she also frequently includes personal notes to him, and notes that, you know, [say] 'You're the alpha and the omega,' 'The be all and end all,' 'What would I be without you?'" Wolff divulged.

The comments drew renewed attention after Haberman and Swan explored Trump and Harp's relationship in "Regime Change." By the time Trump returned to Washington after winning the 2024 election, Harp reportedly remained by his side.

The book describes her as an "ever-present" figure in the Oval Office and "the most devoted of all" among Trump's loyal aides. "Harp was generally on a chair off to the side, her laptop open, head cocked, listening but never contributing unless ordered to by Trump," Haberman and Swan wrote.

They added that she fulfilled requests quickly, whether Trump needed a "Trump 2028" item fetched from the merchandise room, a fast Google search, or the latest article from right-wing websites such as Breitbart or Gateway Pundit.

That image is striking: Harp sitting just off to the side, quietly watching, waiting, and responding in a flash. And according to the book, her role went beyond ordinary assistant duties…

In late 2025, Harp reportedly became the White House aide with the most control over Trump's Truth Social account, where he frequently posts dozens of times a day. She was also allegedly the person who showed Trump the video of ally and far-right Political Commentator Charlie Kirk's unaliving in September 2025.

The book also described a March 2025 incident involving Trump's economic team. At the time, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and others were reportedly giving Trump accurate tariff numbers for countries such as China and India as he prepared a sweeping trade war.

Trump allegedly thought the numbers were "[expletive] numbers." So Harp was reportedly called in to "do your Google, do your computer thing" and find the "real numbers."

But Haberman and Swan wrote, "Harp, despite her best efforts, was not finding the numbers that didn't exist." That moment paints Harp as both powerful and limited. She could search, print, and filter, but even devotion could not produce facts that were not there.

Still, the White House pushed back against the tone of the reporting. White House Spokesperson Kush Desai told People, "No President has used social media as effectively as President Trump, who has formed a direct line of communication to the American people."

"The Fake News Media hates being cut out, but the American people appreciate directly hearing from their president, Donald J. Trump," he added. Desai also defended Harp directly. "No president has cultivated as much loyalty among their staffers and administration officials as President Trump; this is a testament to his commitment to our country and its people," he said.

"Natalie Harp is a beloved White House Official, and the Fake News Media will never understand what it's like to be as trusted and admired as her," Desai added. That loyalty, however, reportedly had a long emotional backstory.

Harp's Bond With Trump Traces Back to a Dramatic Health Story

Harp first became publicly linked to Trump through a deeply personal health story. At the Republican National Convention in 2020, she gave an emotional speech saying Trump had saved her life.

According to The Washington Post, Harp said, "When I failed the chemotherapies that were on the market, no one wanted me in their clinical trials." "They didn't give me the right to try experimental treatments, Mr. President. You did, and without you, I'd have died waiting for them to be approved," she continued.

Harp repeatedly credited Trump's "Right to Try" law, signed in May 2018, with saving her life. But the story was not without dispute. The Washington Post reported that medical experts questioned whether the law could have applied to her case.

Harp had described receiving "an FDA-approved immunotherapy drug for an unapproved use." Experts said that that type of treatment is called "off-label use," which is common in cancer care and existed long before the Right to Try law.

Before becoming a behind-the-scenes gatekeeper, Harp publicly praised Trump as someone she believed had changed the course of her life. Years later, reports would describe a bond built on loyalty, access, and constant proximity. | Source: Getty Images

The law, by contrast, was intended to help patients access drugs that had not been approved or licensed by the FDA for any use. The timeline also raised questions.

Two months before Trump signed the law, Harp had already tweeted on March 27, 2018, "Just so you know, President Trump is setting records in speeding up the drug approval process. The chemo I'm on now wasn't approved 5 years ago."

Harp did not respond to calls and emails from The Washington Post at the time, and White House and Trump campaign officials declined to answer questions about the account she gave during the convention.

Whether disputed or not, that origin story appears to have helped define Harp's bond with Trump. To her, he is not just a political figure: He is the man she publicly credited with saving her life. That context makes the later reports about her devotion feel less random and more revealing.

Still, even against that emotional backdrop, some of the alleged details in "Regime Change" are eye-catching. Trump reportedly took to calling Harp "Nathalie," using a French pronunciation. He also reportedly told others that she was the "only one who loved him as much as his wife and kids."

That is quite a statement, especially in the famously transactional world of presidential politics. And according to the book, Trump allegedly made another remark about Harp's loyalty.

"All of you will go off and make money," Trump was known to say. "She'll never leave me." The comment suggests Trump saw Harp not just as another aide, but as someone unusually committed to him.

More Than Just an Assistant? The Private Notes That Reportedly Left Insiders Stunned

Then comes the detail that reportedly left future Trump 2024 campaign manager and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles confounded. According to the book, Harp left "adoring letters" in Trump's "personal spaces" during his time out of power.

One of those letters allegedly included the line, "You are all that matters to me." That is the detail that turns the whole story from merely political to deeply personal. No one can say from these reports whether the bond is romantic, one-sided, purely emotional, or simply an extreme version of political loyalty.

However, the language allegedly used in those notes, combined with Trump's reported comments about Harp, is bound to raise eyebrows. In a world where access is power, Harp reportedly has plenty of it.

She had the printer, the laptop, the flattering articles, the social media comments, the Truth Social control, and the seat off to the side of the Oval Office. But according to these accounts, she also has something more unusual: a level of personal devotion Donald Trump appeared to notice, name, and value.

And that may be why Harp, once a low-profile aide with a printer, has suddenly become one of the most talked-about figures in Trump's orbit.
