Katy Perry Reveals the Man She Called 'the Love of My Life' After Her Lowest Point on Tour — Details

A difficult stretch on Katy Perry's Lifetimes Tour coincided with a major change away from the stage — one that the pop star is now discussing in her own words.

The 41-year-old singer has now spoken directly about the romance she found with a former world leader during a difficult chapter of her life, revealing why the relationship became so meaningful to her.

Perry, 41, shared new details about the relationship in a People interview published September 2, 2026, while looking back on the 16 months she spent touring with her Lifetimes Tour.

The months on the road were not always easy. Perry recalled struggling during the Australian leg, when being far from her friends at home left her feeling isolated.

"It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away," Perry told People. "But then my angels went to work. They really showed up."

By late July 2025, Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau fueled dating speculation after they were seen having dinner in Montreal. Two days later, Trudeau attended her concert with his daughter.

Perry Explains How the Tour Changed Her Personal Life

"I learned how to step back into my purpose," Perry told People, "and I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life."

Perry was referring to Trudeau. The two met while her tour was underway, and she recalled a noticeable change after their paths crossed. "I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted," she said.

She had also put her hopes for her personal life on paper before the relationship developed.

During the video interview, she pulled a handwritten list from her phone case and read its final entry: "No. 10 just says, 'True Love.' And I think that's where we're at."

By then, the couple had already taken their relationship into the public eye. They appeared together for Perry's birthday in Paris in October 2025 before making their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Festival premiere of "Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour - Live From Paris" in June 2026.

Perry's hopes for a relationship, however, went beyond what she had written on that list.

Perry Reveals What She Had Been Searching for Before Trudeau

Perry told People that the subject had previously come up during therapy.

"I always wanted this epic legendary love, and I was talking to my therapist about it: Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece - then it showed up."

Trudeau's involvement in Perry's life has also extended to her performances.

The publication reported that he was in the audience for 10 of her 20 recent summer concerts. "He knows the words, he's supportive, and he's in awe; it's super healing," she said.

Beyond his presence at her shows, Katy Perry identified another quality that matters to her. "He is really heart-centered, and I think that we align in that way. I'm so grateful," she added.
