Emma Roberts Marries Cody John in Idaho as Aunt Julia Roberts Gets Emotional at the Ceremony — Photos
Photos from the 35-year-old "American Horror Story" actress's wedding revealed who attended the intimate outdoor celebration — and who was noticeably absent.

Held at the groom's family estate, the wedding brought together relatives and close friends for a celebration surrounded by towering trees, mountain views, and late-summer sunshine.
Although the couple kept the ceremony private, recently released photos offer a closer look at the day. They capture quiet family moments, emotional embraces, and the first images of the newlyweds after they said "I do."
Page Six reported that the ceremony lasted about 45 minutes despite temperatures climbing to roughly 95 degrees. Guests gathered along a flower-lined aisle as Emma made her entrance beneath a clear Idaho sky.

Rhodes Helped Lead Emma Into Her New Chapter
Emma was joined by her 5-year-old son, Rhodes Hedlund, who held her hand as they made their way down the aisle together.
The ceremony photos show Rhodes dressed in a dark suit as he proudly escorted his mother, whose flowing veil trailed behind her across the grass. The touching moment set the tone for the ceremony before Emma and Cody exchanged vows.
Other images capture the celebration's biggest moments, including the couple's first kiss as newlyweds, an embrace immediately after the ceremony, and their walk back up the aisle hand in hand as guests applauded.
Julia Roberts Was Captured in an Emotional Moment
Among those attending the wedding was Emma's aunt, Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts, who appeared visibly emotional as the celebration continued.
One image shows Julia wiping away tears while talking with another guest shortly after the ceremony. In another, she smiles through the emotional moment as she continued greeting family members, offering a rare glimpse into a private family celebration.
She wore a black-and-white polka-dot ensemble with oversized sunglasses and appeared relaxed as she congratulated the newlyweds and spent time with relatives throughout the afternoon. Julia's appearance also sparked discussion online.
On Instagram, one commenter questioned the guest list, "Invited her aunt but not dad? Isn't that weird or it's just me?" Another focused on Julia's outfit, commenting, "Strongly dislike Aunt Julia's attire." A third user responded, "Her aunt was the one who raised her so she would obviously be there."
On Facebook, one commenter also weighed in on Julia's attire, writing, "Polka dots?!?! That's what she chose to wear to a wedding??! 🙄 Congratulations to the bride and groom ❤️." Another admitted, "I just found out her and Julz are related."
Eric Roberts Publicly Supported Emma's Wedding
While the "Pretty Woman" star celebrated alongside family members in Sun Valley, Emma's father, Eric Roberts, was noticeably absent from the ceremony. Neither Emma nor Eric has publicly commented on why he did not attend the wedding.
Despite his absence, Eric publicly expressed his support for his daughter's marriage in a statement to Page Six, saying, "I love my daughter, always have, always will."

He added, "It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants." Eric has spoken candidly over the years about his relationships with both Emma and his sister, Julia.
In a 2018 interview with Vanity Fair, he said he would not characterize his relationship with Julia as a "falling-out."
He acknowledged that his years of drug use had put a strain on their relationship, admitting he had been "exhausting to be around" and that those closest to him, including Julia, "needed a break sometimes."

Eric said the siblings reconnected after the birth of Julia's twins in 2004, adding that they had since spent Thanksgivings together and had become "e-mail buddies."
In July 2024, Eric acknowledged during an appearance on the "Still Here Hollywood" podcast, as reported by People, that both Emma and Julia had asked him not to discuss them publicly.
"I love my sister, but I can't talk about her," he said before adding, "I'm not supposed to talk about either of them. But I do."

More recently, during an appearance on the "Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson" podcast in April 2026, Eric reflected on becoming a father when Emma was born in 1991.
He admitted he was struggling with addiction, depression, and other personal challenges at the time, saying he was "emotionally ... a wash rag" and "was not to be depended on emotionally whatsoever, because I was a car wreck."
Eric said he takes "full responsibility" for that period of his life but stressed that his feelings for Emma have never changed. "I'm so proud of my daughter," he said. "Bring her up all day."
He also pushed back against public speculation about their relationship, arguing that outsiders often misunderstand their family dynamic. "It's only complicated through outside eyes because they don't get any of it," Eric said. "So they have their own take... but it's not a real relationship with the subjects."
Emma Roberts' Wedding Dress Was Inspired by Antique Treasures
Before the wedding ceremony, Emma worked closely with designer Monique Lhuillier to create a gown that reflected her love of vintage style.
Speaking with Vogue during her final fitting, Emma said she didn't begin the design process with a detailed vision. Instead, she focused on how she wanted the dress to feel.

She said, "I didn't really know what I wanted. I just knew that I wanted it to feel very vintage-inspired. I'm obsessed with antique books and treasure hunting, and I love collecting old ephemera, so I really wanted that to shine through in the dress."

Rather than choosing a traditional bright white gown, Emma opted for a custom tea-toned fabric that complemented the antique aesthetic she envisioned. "I kind of wanted to look like a ghost—a little antique ghost doll," she added.
Turning that idea into reality took nine months and nearly 1,000 hours. Designer Monique Lhuillier crafted the custom gown from about 25 yards of silk chiffon dyed in a bespoke shade called "antique rose," a nod to Emma's middle name.
The finished design featured a structured corset beneath softly draped fabric, a removable lace shawl, and multiple styling options that carried her from the ceremony into the evening celebration.
Seeing the completed gown exceeded Emma's expectations: "I said I wanted to like look like a ghost and they made it beautiful."
She also joked that while Cody would have supported any outfit she chose, she knew he'd appreciate the finished design. "He wouldn't care if I wore jeans," she said. "But he's gonna definitely die for this."
More Pre-Wedding Photos Also Sparked Online Debate
The ceremony wasn't the only part of the wedding weekend to draw attention after photos from the celebration were released. One series of photos shows Emma wearing a short white bridal dress and matching headband while walking through town beside Cody.
In several images, she is seen holding a cigarette, while another captures her lifting the hem of her dress as they continued down the sidewalk. The candid photos quickly sparked debate on social media.

Not everyone approved. One person commented, "Smoking is so disgusting, one of my biggest icks, can't stand being around family and friends who smoke. the smell is atrocious."
