Amazon MGM Studios is partnering with Tornante, the independent studio behind "BoJack Horseman" and "Undone," for the project.

The show will follow Lautner playing a fictionalized version of himself, who, after finishing the "Twilight" films, is drawn into a secret society of werewolf hunters. As he navigates a double life as a Hollywood actor and supernatural warrior, the actor will find himself battling the very creatures that made him famous.

The series will also explore his struggle to balance saving the world, reviving his career, and managing his personal life. Directors Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, along with Adam Londy of Tornante and Tarik Kanafani, will serve as executive producers.

Fans of Lautner may appreciate his return to the werewolf theme, given his career-defining role as Jacob Black in one of the biggest franchises ever made, which spanned five films and grossed over $3 billion worldwide.

Aside from "Twilight," Lautner has had a varied filmography, appearing in movies like "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl," "Abduction," "Valentine's Day," "Home Team," and "The Ridiculous 6." His television credits include "Scream Queens," "Cuckoo," and "My Own Worst Enemy."

He was even in Taylor Swift's music video "I Can See You (Taylor's Version)." However, none of his roles since the saga have been as popular. This new project is Lautner's chance to get back into the spotlight.

Yet, reactions to "Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter" have been mixed. Some fans are skeptical, with one commenting, "That log line does more harm than good." Another wrote, "This sounds like a fanfic created by a 15 year old [sic]."

Others questioned its legitimacy, with one user asking, "This is fake, right?" while another remarked, "Amazon cannot possibly be out of ideas that badly, can they??" One netizen won't even give it a chance, writing, "I'm out. Not a fan. And this sounds terrible [sic]."

However, many are embracing the concept. One fan expressed enthusiasm, "Fantastic gimme 15 of em [sic]." Another praised the originality, "Honestly this is kind of a brilliant concept, if they can really land it, it could become a classic in the meta genre!!"

Others highlighted Lautner's comedic potential, with one stating, "It sounds like a comedy and he's actually very funny so this will probably be fun." Another comment read, "This sounds unhinged in the best way! lol! You certainly Can't impugn his sense of humor [sic]!"

One netizen couldn't decide and wrote, "This is going to be either the best thing ever or the worst thing ever. Something like this, there is no in between [sic]!🤣"

While reactions are divided, the series is already generating buzz. Whether it will be a hit or a misfire remains to be seen, but Lautner's return to werewolf lore is set to be an intriguing ride.
