A source close to his family revealed that Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was aware of his deteriorating condition.

"He was suffering from shortness of breath, got tired easily, had lost a lot of weight, and was on oxygen," the source stated, describing the last weeks of the 71-year-old star's life in his Clearwater, Florida, mansion.

Hogan had reportedly been diagnosed with a very "weak heart," and his family was aware of the seriousness of the situation. Despite his condition, he remained emotionally focused.

"He had a lot of scores to settle. Didn't want to leave anything unsaid," the source added, explaining how Hogan spent his time trying to mend relationships with estranged loved ones.

On the morning of Thursday, July 25, 2025, EMTs responded to a 911 call from Hogan's residence. The wrestling star was experiencing major heart complications. He was transported by stretcher to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to Clearwater Police, the call reporting Hogan's emergency came in as a serious medical situation. Officer N. Burnside confirmed that the dispatch described it as a cardiac arrest.

A standard death investigation is underway, though authorities confirmed there are no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.

"Our personnel is providing the family with the necessary resources," said Burnside. "I strongly encourage everyone to keep the family in their thoughts, and please respect their privacy during this difficult time."

In the days prior, Hogan's wife, Sky Daily, publicly dismissed rumors about his condition. On Friday, July 18, in an Instagram Story response to a fan that has now expired, Daily wrote, "No, he's definitely not in a coma! His heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage. None of those rumors are true."

She clarified that Hogan had been recovering from a major four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF), a complex surgery that impacted his spine, vocal cords, and breathing functions.

"We've been in and out of the hospital to support that recovery," she expressed, noting the healing process was ongoing. "There's no need for the drama or panic some people try to stir up. He's healing and we're taking it one day at a time with love, strength, and patience."

Just days before Hogan's death, more reassurance came from longtime friend and former on-screen manager Jimmy Hart, who also denied deathbed claims.

On Tuesday, July 22, Hart posted on X, "Hulk is doing great, doing phenomenal! Last night at karaoke with Nick was absolutely fantastic, baby!!!" The post has since been deleted.

Reports of Hogan's health struggles had circulated weeks earlier. On June 18, a representative for the wrestler confirmed to E! News that Hogan had recently been hospitalized due to ongoing neck and back issues.

However, they emphasized there were "no reasons to panic." The rep added that Hogan "had problems with his back" for years and had recently undergone neck surgery, which "has indeed been successful."

In the background of Hogan's health battles and public statements, personal matters weighed heavily on him in his final months.

According to the Daily Mail, Hogan was already "heartbroken" well before his fatal cardiac arrest. Though known to fans as a symbol of American patriotism and toughness across wrestling, Hollywood, and reality TV, the man behind the persona had not spoken to his daughter, Brooke Hogan, in eight years.

The 37-year-old TV personality and singer remained estranged from her father up until his death. While the precise reasons for the rift were never publicly detailed, the Daily Mail reported that Hogan continued to hold onto hope for reconciliation.

"The last few months of Hogan's life had a lot more ups than downs," one insider told the news outlet. "There was a little strain with his daughter and their relationship that had taken quite the emotional toll, but he always thought he would eventually be able to rectify that."

Those closest to Hogan are said to be in disbelief over his sudden passing. "He was still extremely close to his son," the source added. "It is a surprise and doesn't feel real at all to his family and friends."
