Grammy-Nominated Producer Tay Keith, 29, Found Deceased in Nashville Apartment — Police Break Silence with 5-Word Statement
A Grammy-nominated producer's final social media post, an unanswered welfare check, and a friend's emotional screenshots have left many searching for answers.
As tributes continue to pour in, one brief statement from Nashville police has become a major focus of the conversation.
Brytavious Chambers, better known to music fans as Tay Keith, was found deceased Thursday afternoon, June 18, at his apartment in Nashville, Tennessee.
The producer, who helped create some of hip-hop's biggest hits, was just 29 years old. While authorities have confirmed his passing, several key details remain unknown.
A Career That Reached the Top
Chambers became one of the most recognizable producers in modern hip-hop after helping create Travis Scott's 2018 hit "Sicko Mode."
The track earned him a Grammy nomination while he was still attending Middle Tennessee State University. His résumé later expanded to include collaborations with major artists including Cardi B, Eminem, Beyoncé, and many others.
In 2025, he was recognized on Forbes' 30 Under 30 Music list alongside Cambrian Strong for their Drumatized record label. Forbes also noted that he received Producer of the Year honors at the BMI Awards in 2024.
Born in South Memphis, Chambers later lived in East Memphis and Orange Mound before building a career that reached audiences around the world. Despite his growing success, he remained committed to finishing college.
"There wouldn't be any point for me to come to college if I didn't want to finish it — I could have just focused 100% on music," Chambers previously said through Middle Tennessee State University.
"By my last week of college, I had my first No. 1 single, so it didn't make any sense to drop out." He graduated in December 2018 with degrees in integrated studies and media management.
His Final Instagram Post
As news of his passing spread, some fans revisited his final Instagram post. The post, shared on May 7, highlighted what he loved most — helping create music for major artists.
In the update, Chambers promoted Chris Brown's song "Call Your Name," which features Sexyy Red and GloRilla. The post would become his final update on the platform.
What the Police Said
According to WSMV, Metro Nashville Police confirmed that Chambers was found inside his Martin Street apartment after officers conducted a welfare check.
The department later shared additional information in a statement posted on X. The five words drawing the most attention were: "No foul play is suspected."
Police said Chambers' death remains unclassified pending autopsy results. Authorities also stated that his cause of death has not yet been determined.
