Jennifer Aniston Makes a Surprisingly Sharp Comment About Elon Musk in a Candid Interview
America's sweetheart has a sharp tongue, and this time, she's aimed it straight at Silicon Valley royalty.
In a no-holds-barred interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer Aniston didn't mince words when talk turned to "The Morning Show" and the uncomfortable comparisons between her character's love interest and controversial tech titan Elon Musk.
The bombshell moment came during a wide-ranging August 11, 2025, sit-down in which the beloved actress got unusually candid. Her cutting remark and her co-star's comments from another interview laid bare the growing discomfort many feel about tech billionaires and their tightening grip on society.
Behind the Scenes of Fictional News
Though the focus of the interview largely centered on Aniston's battle-hardened relationship with tabloid gossip, the conversation inevitably turned to her Apple TV+ hit, which continues to draw heat for its unflinching portrayal of modern media and political minefields.
With the upcoming season set in 2024, Donald Trump will inevitably be mentioned in some storylines. Aniston, ever the diplomat, acknowledged the challenge of navigating such waters.
"Making a TV show about political coverage in a deeply divisive time can be tricky. You want to appeal to all audiences," she explained.
But the real fireworks came when the interviewer shifted focus to another real-world figure frequently compared to one of the show's fictional characters: Musk.
Her "The Morning Show" co-star Jon Hamm plays Paul Marks, a swaggering, rocket-building billionaire whose persona has long invited parallels to the Tesla and SpaceX mogul. But when asked about the connection, Aniston didn't hesitate to shut the comparison down cold, adding:
"I don't find him desirable in any way or shape."
Hamm Sounds Off on Tech Titans
"The Morning Show" isn't the only fictional series that has created characters often likened to big figures in technology, finance, and politics. "Succession" and "A Murder at the End of the World" are some examples. Hamm himself was asked why this was happening in an interview with Variety in 2024.
"They're kind of buying their way into the conversation at this point, aren't they? [Jeff] Bezos controls many online transactions in the world and bought the Washington Post, so he's got a megaphone in some way," Hamm stated.
He didn't stop there, adding that Musk purchased Twitter, renamed it, and transformed the platform, effectively doing something similar to Bezos.
Unlike the overlords of the past, such as barons who built giant structures to flaunt their wealth, the actor noted that today's billionaires are acquiring legacy media and using it to push their opinions. He called that "an interesting choice."
Hamm also expressed that litigation was once used in these cases to stop monopolies, but that has disappeared. "We're living in a very interesting inflection point, it seems, about where this massive amount of money concentrated in very few people is really having the effects that we were all afraid it was going to," he added.
Explosive Twists Await in Season Four
Audiences won't have to wait long to see how the show handles last year's election. Season Four of "The Morning Show" premieres September 17, and this season promises to be nothing short of explosive. A bold time jump thrusts viewers into the chaos after the UBA-NBN merger, where competition for leadership is more ruthless than ever.
The trailer teases betrayal at the highest levels — Jennifer Aniston's character appears to be framed, facing potential expulsion from the very newsroom she helped shape.
Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon's character is knee-deep in a shadowy internal cover-up, setting off a chain reaction that could unravel everything.
