Celebrities on Their First Intimate Experiences
Some celebrities have stories that are unforgettable, not for their romance or passion, but for their shock, awkwardness, or heartbreaking naivety.
From police encounters to teenage lies, A-listers, like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Katy Perry, revealed the real, raw, and often cringe-worthy moments when they lost their virginity, and they didn't hold back.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson
In a 2017 interview with Elle, the action star revealed a memory so mortifying, it still haunts him to this day. When asked if he'd change anything about his first intimate experience, Johnson said:
"We shouldn't have been in the park in the first place. All of a sudden, a big spotlight came on us. Bang. You hear the cop roll down the window and say, 'Ma'am, are you okay? Will you come to the car?'"
And it only got worse. "She gets dressed, comes to the car," he continued. "They say, 'Are you being attacked?' She says, 'No, that's my boyfriend.' It was a complete nightmare. [Laughs] Some stories are beautiful, but mine was not."
Katy Perry
In a 2014 GQ cover story, Perry painted a far more dreamy, but still rebellious, picture. Growing up in a strict home where rock music was banned, she still managed to find ways to break the rules... and get jiggy.
She was 16 and lounging in a Volvo sedan listening to Jeff Buckley's "Grace" when she lost her virginity. "Love that record so much," the "Firework" singer said.
Joe Jonas
During a 2013 interview with Vulture, the former Disney star opened up about the tight control he faced growing up in the spotlight — especially because of the purity rings he and his brothers wore.
He mentioned how his lyrics were monitored, and anything remotely suggestive was vetoed. But eventually, the rings came off — and life changed.
"I lost my virginity when I was 20. I did other stuff before then, but I was sexually active at 20. I'm glad I waited for the right person, because you look back and you go, 'That girl was [expletive] crazy. I'm glad I didn't go there,'" Jonas revealed.
George Clooney
Clooney didn't sugarcoat it in his 2011 Rolling Stone interview. He lost his virginity at 16, which he said was "young, very young, too young."
The Oscar-winner also exposed his battle with Catholic guilt, admitting to self-punishing behavior after pleasuring himself. He would put rocks in his shoes and jump off the bed.

Sebastian Stan
In 2016, the Marvel actor shared his coming-of-age story on the podcast "The Drop-In with Will Malnati." His first kiss came at age ten, but anything else didn't happen until much later.
"I think I lost my virginity pretty late. I was a senior in high school. I mean, that's late, right? I don't know. By today, probably ancient," he joked. "But I did at the Time Hotel in Times Square. That's where I lost it."
He also confessed to a little white lie. "I actually had told her that I wasn't a virgin," Stan said of his long-distance girlfriend, whom he met at acting camp. "She'd said she was a virgin too, so she was also pretty late in the game, but I only did that because I wanted to seem like I knew what I was doing. Years later, I actually told her, 'No, I didn't.'"
Megan Fox
In 2010, Fox opened up to Cosmopolitan about a surprisingly tender first time. "I've had plenty of awkward sex, but that first time was not awkward," she admitted. "I was in love with him, and it was nice."
Though she refused to name the actor boyfriend, she was 17 at the time — just a year later, she began her tumultuous romance with Brian Austin Green.

Chris Martin
In 2008, Rolling Stone dug into the Coldplay frontman's late bloom. "Well, there were religious issues and [expletive] like that. Also confidence. I had a tricky time with girls until I was, like, 21. I'm sure it's always tricky, but I didn't quite have it down. I've always had a lot of female friends," he admitted when asked why he had lost his virginity at 22.
Martin even confessed to feeling like he had to pursue stardom to change how women saw him, as he didn't want to be the friend anymore. He wanted to be wanted.
Courteney Cox
In a 2019 appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," Cox made a startling confession after being asked if her mother was comfortable discussing sex and similar topics during her youth.
"No, my mom never talked to me about one thing I should have known," she said. "I shouldn't say this, but I will. I was a virgin till I was 21. I think I can be proud of that."
She also recalled how, once she was in a long-term relationship, her mom celebrated it in a rather unexpected way — by gifting her lacy underwear.
Colton Haynes
In a 2017 episode of "Radio Andy," the actor and model dropped a bombshell. He lost his virginity to a "girl and a guy." He shared, "I've never said that before."
"Everyone participated. It was a real first time. It was exciting. [...] It wasn't a three-way. It was separate instances," Haynes added.
Chris Evans
The "Captain America" star got candid in a 2017 Esquire cover story, opening up about the chaotic, life-changing year that launched his career — and marked a major personal first.
After landing a summer internship with a casting agent in New York after his junior year of high school, Evans connected with three agents.
To no one's surprise, they all wanted him. He picked the most recommended one and was told to wait for pilot season in January. After returning home, he raced to finish senior year early, and once back in New York, he landed a TV show.
"I know I'm going to L.A. in August," he recalled of the time afterward. "So I go home and that spring I would wake up around noon, saunter into high school just to see my buddies, and we'd go get high in the parking lot. I just [expletive] off. I lost my virginity that year. 1999 was one of the best years of my life."
Kathie Lee Gifford
In her 2020 memoir "It's Never Too Late," the beloved TV host shared a deeply emotional and spiritual confession.
"I was a virgin on my wedding night with Paul, and still considered myself one when he left me five years later," Gifford wrote, referring to her first husband, Paul Johnson. "[...] Back then, divorce had much more of a stigma, and no one in my family was divorced. I believed that God could heal our marriage and prayed every day that He would." Sadly, her marriage lasted only eight years.
