Snoop Dogg Reacts to Family's Help When His Card Was Declined at a Restaurant at the Olympics
It was supposed to be a simple takeout run in Italy. Instead, it turned into a story that had locals and fans talking.
While in Livigno, Italy, covering the Winter Games for NBC, Snoop Dogg stopped at a local restaurant called Cronox. He placed a casual order — a cheeseburger, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, and french fries — nothing out of the ordinary.
But a surprise came at checkout.

When the Card Would Not Go Through
Snoop's team attempted to pay for the meal, but the transaction would not process. Sofia Valmadre, the daughter of the restaurant owners, later described the moment.
"He sent his staff to take it and pay, but they couldn't pay. I don’t know why, it wasn’t going," Sofia said. "So my mother told him that it was okay."
The family told him not to worry about the bill and let him take the food without charging him that night. For a small local business during a global event, that kind of trust stood out.
But the story did not end there.
The Next-Day Surprise
The very next day, Snoop made sure the situation was handled.
As confirmed by the family, he sent them five tickets to attend the men's snowboard halfpipe final at the Winter Olympics. The gesture was not subtle. It was a clear thank-you.
The family who had simply waved him off when the machine failed suddenly had seats at one of the Games' most anticipated competitions.

More Than Just a Celebrity Visit
Snoop is not in Italy as just another famous face in the crowd.
As previously announced by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, he has joined Team USA as its first Honorary Coach. The volunteer position places him alongside staff and support teams who work behind the scenes to assist athletes preparing for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
"Team USA athletes are the real stars—I'm just here to cheer, uplift and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines," Coach Snoop said in the announcement. "This team represents the best of what sport can be: talent, heart, and hustle. If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me."

Sarah Hirshland, Chief Executive Officer of the USOPC, also addressed the partnership.
"From the moment Snoop met Team USA athletes, there was an instant connection—mutual respect, genuine curiosity, and a lot of laughter," she said. "His enthusiasm for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement is contagious, and we're thrilled to officially welcome him as a member of the Team Behind the Team."
The role adds to his ongoing presence at the Games, where he has been working with NBCUniversal in Italy.

A Full-Circle Moment
Snoop previously reflected on his unexpected Olympic journey, which started in 2024, during an interview with People.
"Never, never, never," he said when asked if he ever imagined becoming one of the faces of the Olympics. "Not that I couldn't or wouldn't, but it was never in my things to do because it was beyond me."

Looking back on his early years in South Los Angeles during the '80s and '90s, he added, "we used to rap about living to see 21," he says. "That was the goal."
His career has since moved far beyond those early expectations. From chart-topping hits like "Nothin' But a 'G' Thang" and "Gin & Juice" to national television and Olympic sidelines, his public image has evolved in ways even he once ruled out.
And in Livigno, a declined card could have been just another minor hiccup. Instead, it became a small but memorable exchange between a global icon and a local family — one that ended with five tickets to one of the Games' biggest events and a reminder that sometimes, a simple act of trust can circle back in a big way.
