Brad Pitt's latest Esquire interview offered an unusually personal look at his life at home, from his dogs and morning routine to his thoughts on family and loss. But one casual comment about his household has sparked questions about what it could mean for his relationship with Ines de Ramon.

Brad's latest interview begins with dogs, cheese and crackers, but it eventually moves into much more personal territory. And somewhere between the actor's reflections on family and his private life, one seemingly casual remark stands out.

In his August 10, 2026, Esquire interview, Brad invited the magazine into his Los Angeles home for what turned out to be a revealing look at his everyday routine.

A Very Brad Pitt Kind of Day at Home

The first order of business was getting his two dogs, Sundae and Vandy, under control. The two doodles were trying to escape through the glass door, with Brad gently motioning for them to sit while attempting to calm the commotion.

"You'll get mildly molested for a couple of minutes, then they'll leave you alone," he told his guest. Once the dogs settled down, Brad got to work in the kitchen. He sliced yellow Gouda and Parmesan, opened crackers and cut up pepper-crusted salami, eventually carrying the charcuterie board to a table overlooking the pool and Los Angeles skyline.

There was no entourage hovering around the kitchen. As the interview noted, it was simply Brad Pitt slicing cheese in his own kitchen. His morning had been similarly low-key. He woke without an alarm, read the news on his phone, played sudoku, worked out, showered and attempted to clean his closet.

"I say cleaned," he said. "I moved some [expletive] around." Then he summed up the day rather perfectly. "Yeah, just a good old day."

The Movie Star Opens Up About Getting Older

The relaxed afternoon eventually became more reflective. At 62, Brad said he has been thinking about the generation of actors who came before him and what it means to find himself among the older stars in Hollywood.

He recalled working with Robert Redford, who directed him in A River Runs Through It, and spoke warmly about other actors he admired, including Paul Newman, Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall and Donald Sutherland. "It's a strange passing," he said. "There was a comforting buffer over us, and now with them gone it's like losing parents in that way. You're the last stop."

Brad also admitted that he sometimes wishes he could go back and make better use of his fifties. "God, I want my fifties back," he said. "I would do more. Your fifties are just — man, anything that's on your mind, go. Go attack it. Go attack it now."

He appears to be following his own advice. After two and a half years of almost continuous work, Brad has been moving from one major project to another, including F1, Heart of the Beast and his upcoming film with David Fincher that brings back his Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood character Cliff Booth.

Brad Also Opens up About the Hardest Parts of Life

The conversation became considerably more serious when the subject turned to loss. Brad spoke about grief, including the death of his mother, and about his father, whom he planned to visit in Missouri.

He also shared thoughts about the emotional highs and lows of life, explaining that he had once wished he could become more even-tempered. A friend helped change his perspective by encouraging him to accept the full range of human emotions rather than trying to flatten them.

"She said, 'I don't know, I believe in the human experience, and the human experience means I'm here to feel it all. Feel it all. The extreme highs and the depths of the soul-crushing lows.' And that freed me."

Brad then spoke candidly about a period when emotional pain became overwhelming. "I was never suicidal in any way," he said, before describing one period when the pain felt so oppressive that he understood why someone might see suicide as a form of relief.

"But I also think we have incredible survival instincts," he said. When the interviewer asked whether he was referring to the painful experiences involving his family, Brad kept his answer deliberately brief. "Family stuff."

The interviewer repeated the phrase. "Family stuff," Brad also repeated. "We could leave it at that."

Then Brad Casually Said Something That Raised Eyebrows

Against that unusually candid backdrop, a much smaller moment from the Esquire visit suddenly becomes more interesting. Early in the interview, Brad gave the writer a seat in his home. "Guests get the view, that's the rule," he said.

He retrieved two small bottles of Perrier from the refrigerator and grabbed paper towels because he did not know where the napkins were. He brought out plates, too. "I'm getting the royal treatment," the interviewer told him. Brad's response was quick and seemingly playful.

"Just another day at the Pitts'," he said.

On its face, the remark could simply be Brad joking about his surname and his home. But the wording has attracted attention because of what was happening in his personal life at the time.

The remark is intriguing precisely because it is ambiguous — and because the story behind Brad's current home life makes the choice of words harder to ignore.

Ines Had Already Become Part of His Everyday Life

Brad's relationship with Ines has been developing for several years. The pair first sparked romance rumors in late 2022 after being seen together at a Bono concert in Los Angeles. By 2024, reports suggested that their relationship had become considerably more serious. Ines was increasingly spending time at Brad's home, and the couple appeared together publicly only occasionally.

In May 2024, Entertainment Tonight's Instagram post showed the couple's relationship was still going strong after they were spotted taking a morning seaside stroll in Santa Barbara.

Later that year, they made their red-carpet debut together at the Venice Film Festival premiere of Wolfs. Extra's report said Brad arrived hand-in-hand with Ines at the premiere, where he also posed with George Clooney and photographers.

In September 2024, Just Jared's Instagram post showed Brad leaving his New York City hotel with Ines, prompting another round of comments about her style. One commenter wrote, "Why is she copy paste angelina jolie [sic] outfit omgsh."

Another commenter said, "She dresses exactly like Angelina Jolie." But while the comparisons kept the internet busy, the relationship itself appeared to be moving in a much more serious direction.

Their Relationship Had Already Reached a New Level

By February 2024, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Brad and Ines were living together. "Brad and Ines have been living together. She still has her own place, but they spend most of their time at his, and Ines has most of her belongings there," the source said.

The insider added that Brad was taking the relationship seriously but was "not rushing next steps," while describing the pair as being "in a great spot" and enjoying their time together.

Another source later described the relationship as a "fresh start." "Brad views his relationship with Ines as a fresh start, and they're really happy together," the source told ET. The couple also made a rare public appearance at the British Grand Prix, where they held hands and smiled as they walked through the crowd while Brad promoted F1.

The pattern was clear: Ines was no longer simply someone Brad was dating casually. She had become part of his everyday world, even if the couple continued to keep much of that world private.

Marriage Was Reportedly Still Off the Table

That makes a June 25, 2026, report particularly important. Just weeks before the Esquire interview was published, Page Six's report said marriage was reportedly not on the table for Brad and Ines.

"Ines is incredibly close with Brad's family. They absolutely adore her, and she's been welcomed with open arms from the beginning," the source said. "But Brad has no plans on getting married despite how close Ines has become with everyone."

According to the report, Ines had formed genuine relationships with Brad’s brother and sister, nieces and nephews, and attended family gatherings. "She's just part of the family when they're together," the source said, adding that she had "built real relationships with everyone."

In other words, the reports described a relationship that was deeply integrated into Brad's personal life — while still stopping short of marriage. That makes his earlier reference to "the Pitts'" all the more intriguing. Whether it was simply a playful reference to his surname or something more remains unclear, as neither Brad nor Ines has confirmed that they are married or engaged.
