Andrew Shue, 59, Makes a Surprising Personal Announcement Years After His Marriage Ended in the Wake of the Amy Robach–T.J. Holmes Affair
For years, the "Melrose Place" actor's broken marriage was tangled up in somebody else's love story, but he finally has news of his own, and it comes with a confession about everything it took to get here.
Andrew Shue, 59, opened up on October 21, 2026, about the future he is building with immigration attorney Marilee Fiebig, 49. Their relationship grew out of an extraordinary upheaval, and now, after more than three years together, the two people who once needed a friend have something much bigger to share.

The Friendship Nobody Could Have Planned
To understand how Shue and Fiebig found each other, we do have to revisit the romantic upheaval that put their names together in the first place. In November 2022, their respective spouses, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, made headlines when their relationship became public.
Both marriages had already reached separation by that point, and both couples eventually divorced. But while the former ABC colleagues' romance commanded attention and scandal, Shue and Fiebig began getting to know each other away from that glare.
Friendship came first. They had each been through a painful change, and neither needed to explain quite so much about why life suddenly felt unfamiliar.
Shue told People, "I don’t think there was anything other than this just happened to be our way of getting to know each other and being able to share ourselves with each other in a time where we both needed a friend."

And somewhere in that friendship, affection became love. Shue and Fiebig are engaged! They took that step in spring 2026, keeping the news private for months before sharing it this week. "We’re very grateful and hopeful," he said.
After everything surrounding the end of their marriages, that quiet announcement carries quite a wallop. There is no elaborate account of the proposal here, just two people making plans together, and Shue letting himself say something wonderfully simple.
"I don’t know how it happened, but there’s a happy ending."

Shue Gets Candid About His Own Marriage
Hearing Shue describe this chapter without pretending he arrived at it with all the answers is more than a little refreshing. That's mostly because finding Fiebig also meant taking an uncomfortable look at himself.
He acknowledged his own role in a marriage that failed, including how little he had understood himself and what he needed from a relationship. Coming to understand those things, he said, became an extraordinary gift.

"I had to grow through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility," Shue said. "I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving."
His relationship with Fiebig developed through the freedom to be honest with each other. Shue described the chance to reveal themselves gradually, under circumstances that neither could have arranged. "It just happened," he said.

For Shue, the future they are choosing also reaches beyond the two of them. He has three sons, ages 30, 28, and 23, and his priorities are firmly rooted in the kind of family life he wants to build, although they are all adults.
"The most important project is your family and building a foundation for your kids and creating a home and showing them a loving relationship they can see and experience," he said.
His Private Happiness Comes Alongside a Public Mission
At the same time, Shue has also been putting considerable energy into bringing people together through The Forum, a grassroots civic initiative designed to give Americans across political divides a voice in the legislative process.
The project has launched in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada. Its virtual town hall format encourages participants to help shape an agenda for renewal.
For someone who has largely kept his romantic life understated, it has offered a very different reason to be in the public eye. Yet Shue sees a connection between rebuilding relationships at home and repairing divisions more broadly.
"There’s an equilibrium," he said. "It happened in my personal life and I think it’s happening in the country right now."
His hope is that people will turn toward one another and act together. Meanwhile, his own announcement has given the public something considerably more personal to discuss, and, naturally, the responses come with a little raised-eyebrow commentary.
Congratulations Come With Some Awkward Questions
On Facebook, some commenters were immediately charmed. One wrote, "These two ❤️", while another offered, "They look good together. Congrats."
Others were still processing the connections between the couples. "That's wild," one commenter wrote, while another remarked, "Weird....holidays should be interesting..... [sic]."
The family implications also caught someone's attention. "How Crazy for the kids 🙁 [sic]," one netizen wrote. And one person offered a rather less effusive wish for the future, writing, "🤷♀️hope it works [sic]."
The reactions may range from delighted to bewildered, but Shue's own words leave little doubt about how he feels. He and Fiebig have chosen a future together, and he sounds profoundly grateful that they found it.
Their engagement news also arrives nearly a month after their former spouses sealed their relationship. Amy, 53, and T.J., 49, privately married in Arkansas on September 19, and the questions surrounding that closely guarded ceremony are a whole other conversation.

A Secret Wedding Revealed Weeks After the Ceremony
The couple married last month, according to a marriage license obtained by People. They had applied for the license just one day before exchanging vows.
But rather than announce their marriage to the world, the newlyweds kept the milestone to themselves. Their secret finally came to light when the paperwork was registered with the county clerk's office on Tuesday, October 13.
Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to People's request for comment, and neither Robach nor Holmes had publicly addressed their marriage at the time of the reports.
Their decision to avoid a lavish public celebration was not entirely unexpected. During a February 2024 episode of their "Amy & T.J." podcast, Robach had already hinted that she wanted something simple for her third trip down the aisle.
"Justice of the peace. Vegas," she told Holmes when discussing her ideal ceremony. Holmes appeared amused by the suggestion, responding, "Is there a justice of the peace in Vegas?" before adding, "I thought only Elvis did them ... That's where you want to have it."
But when the time finally came, the couple skipped Las Vegas and instead chose Arkansas, a state with a significant connection to the groom's past.
Why Arkansas? The Groom's Personal Connection Raises Questions
Marriage records confirmed that Robach and Holmes exchanged vows in Washington County, Arkansas, an unexpected destination that quickly sparked curiosity. For Holmes, however, the state is hardly unfamiliar territory.
The television personality was born in West Memphis, Arkansas, and later attended the University of Arkansas. That connection did not stop social media users from questioning the couple's choice.
"They got married in West Memphis Arkansas. That's mighty brave in and of itself, lol," one person wrote, apparently confusing Holmes' birthplace with the wedding location.
Official records cited by People confirmed that the ceremony actually took place in Washington County, not West Memphis. Another commenter seemed struck by the lengths the couple went to keep their nuptials private, writing, "They even got married in secret 😢."
Meanwhile, a user reacting to Page Six's Facebook post had one burning question: "Arkansas??? Why Arkansas?" Although Holmes' roots explain his connection to the state, the couple has not publicly revealed why they selected Washington County specifically.
And as more details emerged, the wedding location was no longer the only surprise.
Former 'GMA' Colleagues Reportedly Snubbed From Guest List
Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising revelation concerned who was reportedly not invited to witness the couple exchange vows.
According to Page Six, Robach and Holmes did not include their former "Good Morning America" colleagues on their wedding guest list. The reported exclusions included people who had once shared close relationships with Robach during her years at ABC.
"Everyone was very close to Amy when she worked at 'GMA3,'" a source told the outlet. "She's lost touch with a lot of people from there since she left. People who would've been a part of a milestone for her years ago were not included."
The secrecy reportedly extended beyond their former workplace, with even some close confidantes allegedly unaware that the ceremony was happening.
The apparent distance between Robach and her former colleagues is particularly striking given the scandal that engulfed her relationship with Holmes in 2022, ultimately ending their careers at ABC News.
The Romance That Rocked 'Good Morning America'
Long before their secret Arkansas wedding, Robach and Holmes were familiar faces to millions of Americans as co-anchors of "GMA3."
But in November 2022, their professional partnership became the center of a media firestorm when DailyMail.com published photographs showing the pair together outside work, including during a trip to upstate New York.
The images ignited a scandal because both television personalities were still legally married to other people.
Despite the controversy, People subsequently reported that a source insisted there had been no overlap between their romance and their respective marriages. Robach and Holmes have also repeatedly maintained that they had separated from their spouses before their romantic relationship began.
During the December 2023 debut of their podcast, the couple explained that they had already started the process of ending their marriages when news of their romance broke.
"We were outed as being in a relationship," Holmes said, according to Variety. "But everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers, being outed as cheating on our spouses, which wasn't the case."
Their explanation, however, came after the relationship had already triggered a dramatic upheaval at their workplace.
ABC Pulls the Pair Off the Air as Scandal Erupts
The fallout was swift. By December 5, 2022, Robach and Holmes had disappeared from their usual seats on "GMA3" as ABC grappled with the attention surrounding their relationship.
In a December 12 staff memo reported by E! News, then-ABC News President Kim Godwin confirmed that the co-anchors would "remain off-air pending the completion of an internal review."
Godwin also acknowledged the disruption caused by the relentless coverage. "I understand that the continuing coverage can be distracting from the incredibly important work our team does here at ABC News," she wrote.
As replacement anchors rotated through their seats, the scandal's effect on the show's audience became impossible to ignore. According to Variety, "GMA3" averaged 1.63 million viewers from November 28 through November 30, before the first reports about the romance emerged.
On December 1, viewership jumped to 1.81 million, an increase of approximately 11 percent. The following day's broadcast attracted 1.71 million viewers.
Even after the couple was taken off the air, audiences continued tuning in. The December 5 episode drew 1.67 million viewers, followed by 1.74 million on Tuesday and 1.68 million on Wednesday.
But the ratings surge did not save their jobs. In January 2023, ABC officially announced that Robach and Holmes were leaving the network.
"After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it's best for everyone that they move on from ABC News," the network said at the time. "We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions."
Couple Breaks Silence on Alleged Threats Before Romance Was Exposed
In the years following their controversial departure, Robach and Holmes increasingly spoke out about the circumstances surrounding their relationship becoming public.
During their December 2023 podcast premiere, Holmes described them as "the folks who lost the jobs we love because we love each other."
The pair also revealed that they had intended to inform ABC about their relationship themselves before the story became public. But in February 2026, they disclosed another troubling detail about the weeks leading up to the explosive November 2022 reports.
Appearing on iHeartRadio's "An Unlikely Affair" podcast, Robach and Holmes alleged that someone had threatened them before photographs revealing their romance were published, according to Hello!.
"We were blindsided," Holmes said. "I don't know if we didn't take the threat seriously, but we were threatened." Robach explained that they had hoped to keep their relationship private until their respective divorces were finalized.
"They wanted us to admit that we were dating, and we just weren't ready to yet," she said. She also made clear that nobody at ABC was involved in the alleged threats.
Third Time Lucky? Both Newlyweds Have Two Failed Marriages Behind Them
Their private Arkansas ceremony marked another major milestone: a third marriage for each of them. Robach first married Tim McIntosh in 1996. The couple welcomed two daughters, Ava and Annalise, before their marriage ended in 2009.

She later married Shue in 2010, but their union ended in 2023. Holmes also has two previous marriages behind him. He was married to his first wife, Amy Ferson, from 2004 until 2007, and they share two children.
In 2010, he married Fiebig, with whom he shares a daughter. Their marriage also ended in 2023. Despite their complicated marital histories, Robach and Holmes had made no secret of their determination to spend their future together.
During a May 2026 appearance on "Bill and Giuliana: The Podcast", the couple revealed that they had already chosen a wedding date but refused to disclose when the ceremony would take place. Holmes offered a tantalizing hint that their plans involved something particularly meaningful.
"There is a way we want to get married that we haven't revealed necessarily, but it would be very special to us," he said. "We can't say what that is. That's a big thing for us." Robach, meanwhile, explained why she and Holmes were approaching marriage with a different outlook this time.
"This will be our third marriage, both of us," she said. "We've both been married twice before, and we want to maximize the amount of time we have together. We want to enjoy as much of that as we can."
A Secret Engagement and a Ring Nobody Noticed
Their September wedding came almost exactly one year after the couple shared another major relationship milestone. On the October 14, 2025, episode of "Amy & T.J.," Robach and Holmes announced that they were engaged, revealing that the proposal had actually taken place about a month earlier.
"We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we've been engaged for just about a month now," Robach said. Holmes then made a pointed remark about their decision to break the news themselves, a clear reference to how their relationship had first been exposed.
"We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to. We've learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship." But the couple's ability to keep their engagement quiet came with an amusing twist.
Robach later revealed that she had worn her engagement ring in public without anyone apparently noticing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she said she had worn the ring to three large football stadiums on consecutive weekends, apparently waiting to see whether anyone would spot it.
Nobody did. And when it came to their wedding, Robach and Holmes managed an even more impressive feat, keeping their marriage hidden from the public for more than three weeks.
Fans React as Some Call for a 'GMA' Comeback
As news of the secret wedding spread, social media users weighed in on the couple's latest chapter, with reactions ranging from curiosity about the ceremony to support for their relationship.
"Two beautiful people who just fell in love," one Facebook commenter wrote. Another focused on the newlyweds' apparent happiness, adding, "They look happy and that is what matters!"
Others were already looking beyond the wedding, with one commenter raising the possibility of the pair returning to the show where their romance first became headline news. "So now can we get them back on GMA?!" the person asked.
For now, Robach and Holmes continue working together on projects launched after their departure from ABC, including their podcast. But their personal lives have reached a milestone that few could have imagined unfolding so quietly after years of intense public scrutiny.
The couple who once found their romance splashed across headlines exchanged vows in private in Washington County, Arkansas, reportedly without their former "Good Morning America" colleagues among the guests.
And this time, they succeeded in keeping their biggest relationship news to themselves — until the marriage paperwork finally revealed what they had been hiding for weeks.
