Julia Roberts Poses With Her 3 'Grown Up' Children in Rare Snap for Mother's Day
Fans got a rare glimpse into Julia Roberts' family life this Mother's Day after her husband, Daniel Moder, shared a heartfelt tribute featuring the actress and their three children.
Daniel Moder offered a rare look into their private family life on Sunday, May 11, 2025, posting a Mother's Day tribute on Instagram that included a candid photo of Roberts smiling with their children — twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, now 20, and their youngest, Henry, 17.
Moder captioned the snapshot, "Mothers make the coolest stuff. Love these guys." The image quickly drew admiration from fans, many of whom filled the comment section with praise and affection for the family. "Beautiful mother and beautiful kids 😍," one fan wrote.
Others expressed surprise at how much the children have grown. "Wow, time flies! They are so big now 😍❤️❤️❤️," a fan said. Another added, "Kids are so grown up 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️ happy Mother's Day."
One fan focused on family resemblance, writing, "While I agree with Julia that the kids look a lot like you [Daniel], Henry looks JUST like her here!"
The observation follows a sentiment Roberts shared in a past interview with CBS Sunday Morning anchor Jane Pauley. Speaking about her children's appearance, Roberts said, "I always think they all look like me, and then Danny comes home from work, and I go, 'Oh, you, that's who they look like.'"
Roberts and Moder, who married in 2002, met on the set of "The Mexican." Moder was a cinematographer on the film, which starred Roberts alongside Brad Pitt.
Roberts once joked that, during filming, she felt like she was interrupting conversations between Moder and Pitt. "I think he and Brad were crushing on each other," she quipped.
Despite her fame, Roberts has made it clear that her family comes first. While she continues her career as a Hollywood actress, she doesn't view her professional and personal lives as equal in importance.
"It's just never consumed me, being an actor. It is my dream come true. But it is not my only dream come true," Roberts admitted.
Roberts values the life she's built with her husband and children. "That's the best stuff, to come home at the end of the day triumphantly to them," she lovingly said.
In another conversation with British Vogue editor Richard Curtis, Roberts shared that she was grateful for the timing of her career. "I didn't have to pick one or the other," she remarked, reflecting on how her success in acting came before she started a family.
She'd already been working for decades when she started a family with Moder. So, by that time, she could decide when to pause work, and when to focus on family.
Still, when she does take on acting projects, Roberts said it's important for her children to see that creative side of her. "Going out of the house and being creative is really important and vital," she explained. "And it doesn't take away from my love of home."
Roberts also spoke candidly about how different she looks in everyday life compared to the red carpet or during interviews. "I don't look like this. I look quite cute right now. Even after like 17 hours of working. I'm adorable," she joked.
Over the years, Roberts has given fans occasional glimpses into her family life. She once described her daughter Hazel as "one-of-a-kind," highlighting her independence and humility.
Despite being the only daughter of a Hollywood icon, Hazel remains grounded, seeing her mom and dad simply as her parents, not as celebrities.
One time, while looking for prom dresses in her mom's closet, Hazel found the vintage Valentino gown Roberts wore when she won the Best Actress Academy Award for the 2000 film, "Erin Brockovich."

It felt like a full-circle moment when her daughter tried it on, but the dress ended up being too big. "She looked so lovely," Roberts gushed.
Ultimately, the actress revealed that Hazel likely didn't realize she had just tried on one of her mom's most iconic dresses. To her, it was just another vintage piece in her mom's wardrobe.
In 2021, when Moder took Hazel to the Cannes Film Festival, Roberts said her daughter treated the experience with casual grace.
While on FaceTime, the mom revealed seeing her daughter looking casual despite her daughter saying she was ready to go. She had a ponytail on and opted to go for a simple look.

When the "Leave The World Behind" actress suggested that she put on eyeliner, Hazel declined. Ultimately, Roberts was amused by her daughter's response.
"I mean, who needs eyeliner? Just Cannes! I mean, it's just sweet, just the innocence. She's just with her dad. It's not about anything else," Roberts shared.
Now that her children are older, Roberts says she feels lucky to have been emotionally ready when she started her family. While promoting "Ticket to Paradise" with her good friend, George Clooney, she said she values the openness she shares with her kids.
Roberts and Moder's family is one many admire. Though they keep their private life mostly out of the spotlight, the rare moments they share with fans show a couple who have built a strong, lasting bond and continue to thrive together.
