Country music artist Ronnie McDowell was hospitalized following a medical incident during a concert in Oley, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The 74-year-old singer was performing at the Summer Solstice Music Festival when things suddenly went off-script.

Just a few songs into his set, Ronnie started slurring his speech and seemed confused, according to his tour manager. Concerned, the manager halted the performance and led Ronnie aside to check on him. When asked how he was feeling, Ronnie reportedly replied, "No," and mentioned that he thought he might have had a stroke.

He was immediately taken to a hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania, where he underwent a series of tests. A message posted to Ronnie's official Facebook page the next day asked for public support.

Ronnie's son, Tyler Dean McDowell, also turned to Facebook that same day to share how serious things were. After acknowledging fans' concerns, he wrote, "Please understand, this is an incredibly stressful time, and right now, my focus is on my Dad. If there's anything that needs to be shared, I promise—we will." He ended the post asking for prayers.

Later, Tyler updated everyone again, confirming he had made it to Pennsylvania and was at the hospital with his brother, Ronnie Dean McDowell. "He's talking to us, and we're waiting to do the MRI," he shared. "As soon as I know more, so will y'all."

In another update meant to lift some of the heaviness, Tyler shared that he had brought his dad some snacks — Popcorners and Kombucha — while Ronnie Dean arrived with familiar comforts like their dad's shoes, favorite brush, and a Vietnam hat. "Dad was very excited about all this—like a kid in a candy store," he wrote. "Figured y'all could use a lil' levity."

On Monday, June 23, longtime friend and radio host Greg Martin offered a positive update. He announced that Ronnie had been discharged and was cleared to go home. "Family will update more on their personal platforms," Greg added. "I'm sure he'll be back out doing what he loves soon, Ronnie is a go-getter."

He also included a nostalgic photo of the two from December 1983 in Erwin, North Carolina, recalling memories of touring and studio sessions.

At the time of this writing, the family has not provided additional public updates.
