Prince Harry may be thousands of miles from Buckingham Palace, but his latest move suggests he's no longer willing to keep the emotional distance.

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, is planning to invite King Charles and Prince William to the 2027 Invictus Games. His invitation is a significant move toward reconciling with his estranged family members, the "Daily Mail" reports.

The Duke of Sussex is said to have approved the wording of the invitations, which will be sent via email later this month, followed by formal versions. The Invictus Games, founded by Harry in 2014 to support wounded service members, will take place in Birmingham from July 12 to 17, 2027 — the day Queen Camilla celebrates her 80th birthday.

Royal insiders revealed that the timing of the invitation was carefully chosen to accommodate the King's schedule, which is planned three years in advance. If accepted, the event could mark the first public appearance of Prince Harry with senior royals since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.

While many see the move as an olive branch, it has also sparked mixed reactions. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward noted the King's hesitance, citing concerns over Harry repeating private family conversations. Nevertheless, she acknowledged Charles might attend to support the Armed Forces and acknowledge Harry's achievements with Invictus.

Fellow royal expert Katie Nicholl echoed the sentiment, suggesting that the King might be open to setting aside personal differences to support both the Games and his son.

Despite the Royal Family's historical support for Invictus, the potential appearance could pose logistical and public relations challenges for palace aides, especially given the scheduling conflict with Camilla's milestone birthday celebrations.

According to a source close to the matter, the Duke of Sussex hopes his father will accept the invitation, setting aside personal differences, to honor the veterans. The reported outreach follows Harry's emotional BBC interview, in which he admitted, "I would love a reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight anymore—life is precious."

He made the statement when speaking about his UK security status he lost in a legal appeal. The Duke said he felt "devastated" by the court's decision. He said the King "won't speak to me because of this security stuff. I don't know how much longer my father has."

Harry also admitted he has forgiven his family, despite years of disagreements. He further revealed that the security battle has impacted him "every single day," adding that his wife and children are also affected.

The Duke, who has been trying to overturn the changes to his security since he stepped down as a working royal in 2020, said he felt "let down" by the court's ruling. He added that the 2020 decision to reduce his protection felt like a "good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up."

While he claimed that the process was tainted by interference from royal representatives and called on new UK leaders to reform the committee responsible, he appears ready to move forward.

Meanwhile, the offer itself marks Prince Harry's most public and deliberate step toward reconciliation since stepping down as a senior royal in 2020. Whether it will be accepted remains to be seen, but the gesture signals a prince who is ready to put peace before pride.
