'Just Because It Fits, Doesn't Mean You Should': Allison Janney, 65, Blasted for 'Tacky' Pantless Look at the Culture Awards
The actress's dramatic outfit at an eccentric awards show in Los Angeles sparked online backlash, with many questioning the fashion choice for a woman her age.
Allison Janney, the 65-year-old star known for "The West Wing" and "I, Tonya," stirred controversy on July 17, 2025, when she walked the red carpet at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards in California wearing an eyebrow-raising no-pants ensemble, which triggered a wave of comments questioning her taste.

The actress's outfit combined elements of classic tailoring and edgy minimalism, thanks to a strapless black bodysuit with a deconstructed suit jacket featuring a long train that fell down the left side of her body. Pantyhose complemented the daring look.

Additionally, she wore black pointed heels, and her accessories included a black clutch and silver jewelry, while her hair was styled in a short, sharp blonde bob.

Bravo TV posted an Instagram reel of her moment on the red carpet, captioning it, "No one does it like #allisonbjanney 👏."
They also added a video on TikTok of the same moment from another angle, using the famous trending audio from the show "Love Island" that goes, "This week, a hot new bombshell enters the villa."
Unlike Bravo TV, not everyone was impressed by the bold fashion choice. One netizen commented, "When you reach a certain age just because you can doesn't mean you should [sic]."

Another wrote, "I would have gone with a tap pant underneath." A third responded, "Tacky!!" Someone else shared, "Love her as an actress, but she needs a new stylist. Just because it fits, doesn't mean you should wear it🤦🏼♀️," and one person remarked, "Left leg is way way too high 🤨🤷♀️ [sic]."
While many netizens criticized the outrageous ensemble, it aligns perfectly with what the Las Culturistas Culture Awards are all about: celebrating the year's most iconic pop culture moments.
Hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the show draws inspiration from their podcast, "Las Culturistas." The award categories are witty and intentionally absurd, setting them apart from more traditional ceremonies.
For 2025, there's a category called "Best Movie Of All Time," where the nominees are: "Tár," "A Star Is Born" (2017), "Gagachela Bootleg from Videomoon.cn," "The Incredibles," and "The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps."
Another category is "Best Breakfast," and the contenders are: "Egg McMuffin," "Yogurt and berries," "A banana if you don't have really time, necessarily, to do a whole thing," "Crab cake Benedict," and "Just a black coffee I'm actually intermittent fasting [sic]."
There's even a "Cover Our Bases Award For Thing You Have To Admit Happened This Year," and the nominees are: "Law and Order: It Ends With Us," "Karla Sofía on CNN," plus the unforgettable "Adrien Brody spit his gum out at the Oscars, threw it to his date and Matt and Bowen were in the shot."
Also in the running were Kendrick Lamar's infamous "'A MINOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRR' at the Super Bowl" and "Subway Series, we think?"
One category is called "Best Title For The Next 'Bridget Jones,'" with the contenders being "Bridget Jones 5: Oops All Bridgets," "5Bridget5Jones," and "Bridget Jones: Oh No She Betta Bridget." Rounding out the absurd list were "Bridget On: All Or Nothing" and the crazier "Bridget Jones To Terabithia."
The show, taped on July 17, is set to premiere August 5 on Peacock.
