At just 28, Kaelin faced the heartbreaking diagnosis: cholangiocarcinoma, an uncommon and fast-progressing cancer of the bile ducts. The disease, as described by the Mayo Clinic, begins in the slender tubes that carry bile from the liver to the small intestine and is most commonly found in people over 50. Often discovered only after it has progressed, treatment is rarely successful.

A Shocking Diagnosis and Unyielding Courage

In a profoundly personal YouTube video, Kaelin opened up about her diagnosis. "Recently, I was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. My name is Kae, and my goal in creating this video is to share my story and maybe potentially help others in the future," she revealed, adding that she had been misdiagnosed twice before the cancer was discovered.

Kaelin continued to update her followers with raw, emotional TikTok posts, painting a portrait of incredible bravery and hope in the face of terrifying odds. On October 12, she shared that her MRI didn't show any blockage but added that the tumor in her liver had grown.

Just five days later, on October 17, she posted another emotional update from hospice care, explaining the grim decision behind the move:

"So they just moved me into my new hospice room [...] My hospital doesn't have an outpatient to palliative care to hospice. It's either outpatient, ER, or then you go to hospice. So ultimately, I decided to choose hospice just because the hospital is right next door, and if there was an emergency, then I would be able to just go straight to the ER."

Tearing up, she explained that her body was still recuperating from everything that had been happening, adding, "The only thing that's scaring me is that I had to sign a DNR to get here. So, I did sign a DNR in my 20s."

On October 19, Kaelin launched a GoFundMe campaign. In her post, she opened up about how drastically her life had changed since receiving the diagnosis and the emotional weight that came with it.

In the fundraiser titled "Help Us Through This Fight," she also shared the growing financial burden of treatment, noting that her husband had taken on two jobs to keep up with the medical expenses. Despite the uncertainty, her message reflected a quiet determination — a focus on hope, love, and taking each day as it came.

A Final Update Marked by Grace, Strength, and Hope

On October 23, Kaelin shared what would become her final TikTok post, offering a calm and composed update despite her declining health. "I'm still in the hospital and I still am not good enough to qualify for chemo at the moment," she said. "They are moving me to another hospice center […] That's not that much of a big deal," she concluded.
