A Fatal Helicopter Crash Put Oliver Tree's Final Days Under an Eerie New Spotlight
The American singer was reportedly listed among the passengers after two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning, June 14, 2026, killing all six people aboard, AP News reported. He died at 32.
According to officials, the helicopters crashed in the city's western zone. One of the aircraft reportedly came down in the parking lot of a car dealership, where several electric vehicles were parked, sparking a fire that was later extinguished.
Authorities said an investigation is underway to determine what caused the collision. Although police said Tree was on the passenger list given to aviation authorities, the bodies of those killed have not yet been able to be identified.
Before the Tragedy, Tree Had Been Sharing Glimpses of a Joyful South American Trip
The tragedy came shortly after Tree had been seen enjoying South America. He performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 4, before later sharing a video from Brazil, playing soccer in one of the neighborhoods.
Argentine streaming channel Blender also said Content Creator Gaspar Prim Díaz, known online as Gaspi, was in one of the helicopters. Gaspi, who was 23, had more than 2.8 million followers on YouTube.
"Thanks for your art, your magic and your sensibility, every one of us will miss you," Blender said on X. Meanwhile, one witness, a tire repair worker named Fernandes de Freitas, described seeing one of the helicopters in flames after the midair collision.
He also said he noticed one passenger jump out of the other aircraft before it hit the ground. "It was terrifying, absolutely horrifying," De Freitas said.
Then Fans Went Back to the Brazil Video Tree Shared Before the Crash
In the hours after the tragic news spread, fans have begun returning to Tree's recent posts and videos. One of them, which is his last Instagram post, shows Tree in a playful collaboration post with Iae Break titled "Gringo 24 horas no Brasil:".
The Portuguese title translates to "Gringo 24 hours in Brazil," and the clip displays Tree throwing himself into the bit with his usual chaotic confidence. At first, it looked like a funny travel sketch — loud, bright, and very on-brand.

In the video, Tree and Break are first seen playing football. Tree jokingly refers to himself as Neymar before kicking a soccer ball into a goalpost.
After scoring, he is cheered on by a group of people around him. The moment feels joyful, almost like a mini street celebration.
The scene then shifts to Break giving Tree a haircut. As Tree sits in the chair, Break writes something down on a piece of paper while Tree gives a thumbs up.

Another scene shows Tree salting a piece of meat in the style of the famous Salt Bae chef. He then slaps the meat onto a grill while Break continues taking notes.

The clip later returns to the same place where they had played soccer. Tree jumps up and down while holding a makeshift World Cup trophy, fully leaning into the joke.
Then comes another quick moment: Tree on a motorcycle, yelling a phrase in Portuguese to Break as Break writes down yet another note. Tree then drives off.

The clip ended with Tree celebrating with a makeshift trophy and red roses, a finale that fans are now watching differently. The caption, "Americano pela 1º vez no Brasil," roughly translated to "An American in Brazil for the first time." | Source: Instagram/iae.break and olivertree
The final scene shows Tree back at the soccer venue, holding the trophy and red roses while screaming and jumping around. The caption reads, "Americano pela 1º vez no Brasil 😳🇺🇸," which roughly translates to "An American in Brazil for the first time." It was silly; it was loud; it was exactly the type of surreal comedy fans expected from him.
But Another Video from Months Earlier Is What Makes the Story Feel Even More Unsettling
But now, after the crash, the final Brazilian post has become part of the larger heartbreak around his death. And now fans noticed something else. Months before the fatal helicopter collision, Tree had released the aviation-inspired music video for his song "Flowers," which premiered on February 20, 2026.
The video features Tree dressed as a pilot. In several scenes, he is surrounded by aircraft imagery, including planes and helicopters.
At one point, he appears inside an aircraft cabin, while in another shot, he is seen pushing a lawn mower near a plane. The imagery already felt strange and theatrical when the video first dropped.

Tree's pilot imagery in "Flowers" originally fit his offbeat visual style, which often blurred comedy, character work, and surreal storytelling. After his reported death in a helicopter crash, viewers say those visuals feel painfully different. | Source: YouTube/Oliver Tree
Then Viewers Spotted the One Detail They Now Can't Unsee
But after his reported death in a helicopter crash, fans have begun focusing on one detail in particular: Tree standing between two helicopters, in addition to the general aviation theme.
The scene, which once may have seemed like another absurd visual gag, is now being called unsettling by viewers. Some fans say it feels like an eerie coincidence. One YouTube user wrote, "Him standing between two helicopters is actually so eerie."

Meanwhile, another commenter reacted to several moments from the video, "Man, watching him climb the stairs that lead nowhere between two helicopters, him waving goodbye to nothing at the airplane window, and that farewell at the end with a little smile, it really broke me."
For some people, the whole thing feels almost too strange to process. Yet another viewer marveled, "We definitely live in a predictable matrix 😮." Another shared a similar reaction, "It's strange to listen to this song and watch the music video... It almost seems like he had a premonition of his own death months later and even says goodbye... Rest in peace Oliver 🙏."

Some fans have also pointed to farewell-like moments in the "Flowers" video, saying the imagery now feels strangely emotional. There is no evidence Tree predicted anything, but hindsight has made the clip a major part of the conversation. | Source: YouTube/Oliver Tree
Someone else pointed to a specific moment in the clip, "1:58 an eerie foreshadow. Also the helicopter motions he makes through out [sic]."
A Resurfaced Interview About Tree's Will Adds One More Unexpected Layer to the News of His Death
The helicopter scenes are not the only part of Tree's recent past being revisited. Another interview has resurfaced because of what he said about his money and legacy.
In the weeks before his death, Tree spoke about an unusual provision in his will during an April episode of "The Zach Sang Show."

"I don't believe that any of the wealth or the things that get made from it is mine. So when I die — I've set it up — my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one's going to get a penny," Tree revealed.
"If I have a wife or kids or anything, [they're] not getting a [expletive] penny," he continued. Tree explained that he would get his kids through college, calling that "the agreement," but said there would be no "silver spoon" simply because their dad "worked on some stuff in the 2000s."

Then came the part fans are now discussing heavily. Tree said that when he died, "all the money is going to go back to artists." He said he had set up a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree's Art Grants for Baby Geniuses. It was an unusual plan, but very Oliver Tree — dramatic, blunt, and centered around art.
Now Fans Are Left with a Painful Puzzle of Final Posts, Helicopters, and Strange Timing
Now, that comment lands differently. What once sounded like a wild interview moment has become part of the story fans are trying to make sense of.
Between the final Instagram post in Brazil, the aviation-heavy "Flowers" visuals, the comments about helicopters, and his remarks about what would happen after his death, the internet has turned Tree's recent public moments into a heartbreaking puzzle.
There may be no mystery behind it at all. But for fans, the timing is still deeply unsettling, and the image of him standing between two helicopters is the one many cannot shake.
At this time, we wish to extend our most heartfelt condolences to Tree's entire family, his friends, loved ones, community, fans, and all who knew and loved him as they mourn such a significant loss. We hope for their healing amid their time of grief. RIP, dear Tree.
