The "9-1-1" star is heading back to work with a fresh look, although some viewers needed more than a moment to realize who was smiling at the camera.

Jennifer Love Hewitt revealed her Season 10 makeover on Thursday, July 16, 2026, ahead of her return as dispatcher Maddie Buckley on the ABC procedural drama. The 47-year-old actress appeared delighted with the change, but the lighter color was only part of what caught people's attention.

A New Look Before Maddie Buckley Returns

In the short video, Hewitt fluffed her medium-length hair before bringing her hands together to form a heart. Her freshly colored locks were a bright, light blonde, parted near the center and cut with long curtain bangs around her face. "Season 10 hair ready! Let's go!" she wrote alongside the clip.

The cheerful reveal offered a close look at the style from several angles. Lighter layers rested near Hewitt's cheekbones and jaw, while some depth remained around the roots instead of the color appearing completely uniform.

Her makeup was soft and warm, with a light sweep of blush and nude-pink lips. Mascara defined her brown eyes, and her neatly shaped eyebrows had a gentle arch. Additionally, Hewitt smiled with her lips closed, creating faint lines at the corners of her mouth.

The blonde was a considerable departure from the darker hair many viewers associate with the actress. For several people watching, the difference was striking enough that they said they did not recognize her at first.

Viewers Debate the Dramatic Change

The responses beneath her Facebook post initially centered on Hewitt's blonde hair. Some people enjoyed seeing her experiment with a much lighter shade, while longtime fans remained attached to her brunette look.

She explained that microblading was the only treatment she had received for the area, crediting artist Audrey Glass. Hewitt also said a Rare Beauty brow product was helping create the lifted effect people had noticed.

"I have been using this product and I'm noticing people bringing up my brows. I don't have anything on them today really, except this product, but it's the Rare Beauty lifting gel stuff," she said, referring to Brow Harmony Flexible Lifting Gel.

Hewitt continued, "I mean, Selena, 'thank you' is all I can say. I love it, so I'm going to put it up so that you know what it is, but that's what it is. That is the brow lifting that people are talking about. That's all I got."

Her response was lighthearted, but the message underneath it was clear. She wanted people to stop treating every change in a woman's appearance as proof of a procedure.

The attention surrounding Hewitt's face also has a longer and more uncomfortable history. Years before social media commenters began analyzing her brows, interviewers regularly questioned her about her body.
