The former Nickelodeon star, 40, was photographed after visiting a hair salon, wearing a casual ensemble as she made her way outside.

But it was the details of her latest look — and what fans had to say about them — that quickly became the bigger talking point.

Amanda Bynes Steps Out After LA Salon Visit

Bynes was photographed after visiting Crazy Cuts Hair Salon in Los Angeles, according to photos shared on Instagram. The actress wore an oversized white button-down shirt with black leggings and white sneakers for the casual outing.

Her platinum-blonde hair was worn down and swept away from her face, revealing her sharply defined dark eyebrows. Bynes also wore a nose ring, while the small heart tattoo on her left cheek remained visible.

In some of the photos, the "She's the Man" star carried a large black handbag as she walked outside. Another image showed her holding two drinks and a brown paper shopping bag. Her long white manicure could also be seen as she carried the items.

While the outing itself was low-key, the photographs soon had social media users taking a closer look at Bynes' appearance. And several of the reactions struck a supportive note.

Fans Rally Around the Former Child Star

One commenter focused on Bynes' well-being while urging others to give her space. "She looks better. Hope she continues to heal. Leave her alone," the person wrote.

Another user echoed the supportive sentiment, commenting, "People do have real traumas. Happy to see her enjoying herself ☕." Others zeroed in on a much more specific part of her appearance: her eyebrows.

One enthusiastic commenter wrote, "I love those eyebrows!!! Please tell me who did those for you!❤️❤️." The reaction was particularly notable given the attention Bynes' changing eyebrow styles have received during previous appearances.

However, not everyone responding to the latest pictures immediately recognized the former child star.

Her Changed Appearance Leaves Some Fans Surprised

"Is that really her? Can't be. She was so pretty," one person commented. Another user reflected on remembering Bynes from her younger years and admitted that her current appearance was difficult to reconcile with those memories.

"I still just have such a hard time believing this is Amanda Bynes. I cannot see any resemblance to the young girl/lady. She was a big part of my children's lives. I'm not being mean. I'm just having a hard time with this. Wishing her the best!" the commenter wrote.

The salon itself also became part of the discussion. One user remarked, "I'm more concerned about the fact she is leaving the hair salon as in just had her hair done."

The responses were mixed, but the encouraging messages stood out among them — particularly as Bynes has continued to make occasional public appearances throughout 2026.

Her Platinum-Blonde Look Has Continued to Evolve

Earlier this month, Bynes was photographed during another outing to Starbucks in Los Angeles. She was again sporting platinum-blonde hair, although she wore it pulled away from her face on that occasion.

Her hair and eyebrow looks have changed several times throughout the year. In June, Bynes stepped out with platinum-blonde locks after previously experimenting with darker hair and different eyebrow colors.

The latest dark brows are another change from one of her more striking looks earlier this year, when she was photographed with vivid blue eyebrows.

But Bynes has not only been candid about changes to her hair and beauty choices. She has also publicly documented changes to her weight.

Bynes Has Been Open About Her Weight Loss

In June 2025, Bynes revealed that she planned to begin taking the GLP-1 medication Ozempic. She said she weighed 173 pounds at the time and hoped to reach 130 pounds.

"Oh, I'm going on Ozempic. So excited," Bynes said of her plans. "I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures."

By December, Bynes said she had lost 28 pounds. "I usually don't like paparazzi pictures bc I was 180lbs but now I've lost 28lbs on ozempic! I'm down to 152lbs," she shared in an update.

"I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!" In February 2026, photos showed Bynes stepping out for coffee and lunch at Marmalade Cafe in Los Angeles.

Her decision to use Ozempic followed an earlier update about her weight in March 2024. At the time, Bynes said she had gained more than 20 pounds amid depression and weighed 162 pounds.

She also said she wanted to return to 110 pounds. Weight was not the only aspect of Bynes' appearance drawing attention this year, however.

Her Eyebrows Previously Sparked a Flurry of Reactions

In May, Bynes was photographed during a solo outing in a black T-shirt and matching biker shorts. Her bleached-blonde hair was worn long, while she carried a Starbucks iced drink and a pack of Marlboro cigarettes in one hand and searched through her quilted black purse with the other.

But her eyebrows drew much of the attention. The blue brows Bynes had recently sported appeared noticeably lighter, prompting social media users to speculate about what had caused the change. The supplied sources did not establish why her eyebrow color appeared different.

Earlier that month, Bynes had stepped out with her boyfriend, Zachary Khan, while sporting the vivid blue brows. Before that, in August 2025, she told followers that she had received lip filler for a fuller pout.

Now, the dark eyebrows visible after her latest salon appointment have once again put that part of her evolving look in focus. Yet Bynes' recent return to public attention has extended beyond her appearance.

She Has Also Returned to Music

In April 2026, Bynes released "Girlfriend," her first song in four years. The track features Los Angeles-based rapper Fenix Flexin and was released through Create Music Group, a label with credits including Jason Derulo, Keri Hilson, and Deadmau5.

Bynes cited EDM and rap as musical inspirations for the track, while the label described it as blending melodic rap with EDM-inspired production and a West Coast bounce. It was not her first venture into music.

Bynes initially entered the rap space in 2021 with "Diamonds," a short track recorded with her then-fiancé, Paul Michael. The pair later released a longer version of "Diamonds" before following it with "Fairfax" in 2022.

Bynes had teased her latest collaboration with Flexin in February 2026, when she described their work as "straight fire." Music is only one of the creative paths she has pursued since leaving acting behind.

Life After Her Nickelodeon Fame

Bynes graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles in 2019. She had previously revealed in 2017 that she was attending fashion school and hoped to launch her own clothing line.

In December 2024, Bynes participated in an art show and clothing pop-up where she displayed several original artworks. She also launched a podcast with Paul Sieminski in 2023 and joined OnlyFans in April 2025, while making clear that she would not post explicit content.

Those projects followed a career that made Bynes one of Nickelodeon's most recognizable young stars. She rose to fame on "All That" before landing her own sketch-comedy series, "The Amanda Show."

Bynes later starred in "What I Like About You" and made the transition to movies with roles in "What a Girl Wants," "She's the Man," "Hairspray," and "Easy A."

Her departure from the spotlight around 2012 came during a period involving mental health struggles, substance dependency, and legal problems. Bynes has previously spoken about an addiction to Adderall and other drugs.

Her legal troubles included a DUI and two alleged hit-and-run incidents. In 2017, she spoke publicly for the first time in years and said she had been sober for three years.

Bynes also told "Good Morning America" host Diana Madison that she intended to return to acting. "I do miss acting, and I have something surprising to tell you: I'm going to start acting again," she said during the interview.

Her attorney, Tamar Arminak, said Bynes had complied with all the conditions of her probation and was proud of her sobriety. An acting comeback did not follow, but Bynes has continued pursuing fashion, art, music, and other projects while occasionally being photographed around Los Angeles.

And her latest salon outing is not the first time one of those appearances has triggered a wave of commentary. Nearly five months earlier, another set of photographs had fans looking twice — although on that occasion, it was Bynes' unexpected outfit that initially stole the spotlight.

Another Outing Had Fans Doing a Double-Take

Bynes was photographed walking in Hollywood in an oversized white hoodie teamed with pale pink micro shorts. She completed the look with a black shoulder bag and carried her phone as she walked along the sidewalk, with her long blonde hair worn down.

The contrast between the loose hoodie and tiny shorts quickly became the focus of online discussion. Photos taken from two angles also showed tattoos on her thigh and lower leg as she appeared to make her way into a shipping or postal store.

Some viewers questioned the unconventional pairing, while others looked beyond the outfit.

Supportive Comments Soon Took Over the Conversation

Several commenters responding to the photographs focused on how Bynes appeared to be doing. "She seems to be doing so much better! Good for her! I'm rooting for her success, not failure," one wrote.

Another commented, "Knowing she has struggled with body issues in the past, I'm GLAD to see her flaunting her body. Let the woman live." Her eyebrows once again became a subject of discussion.

"Her eyebrows are looking better. They were like big black caterpillars before," one person wrote. Another said, "Loving the new brows! A much softer look." A separate user simply commented, "Her legs look great."

But Her Outfit Divided Opinion

Other social media users were less interested in Bynes' eyebrows and more puzzled by her clothes. Responding to another post featuring the outing, one commenter joked, "Did she forget her pants?"

Another wrote, "No pants with a heavy jacket is definitely a choice." Yet supportive reactions appeared there too. "She looks great. The eyebrows are looking much better," one person commented.

Another wrote, "She's healthy and healing." A second look at the photographs showed the contrasting hoodie and shorts from the front and back, along with Bynes' tattoos and accessories.

Months later, her latest salon appearance has produced another round of debate over her changing look. But among the comments about her hair, brows, and how different she appears from her years on Nickelodeon, some fans delivered a far simpler message.
