Susan Sarandon's Daughter Eva Speaks Out on Breast Reduction Surgery Speculation
The "Mothers and Daughters" star is no stranger to scrutiny over her body, having faced harsh criticism during one of her biggest milestones, her wedding.
Speculation can follow public figures for years, but Eva Amurri is setting the record straight. The daughter of Susan Sarandon recently addressed rumors linking her breast reduction surgery to a past controversy involving her wedding gown.
The lifestyle blogger took to her Instagram Stories on April 28 to clarify the reasoning behind her undergoing the procedure. A headline had suggested the breast reduction surgery was connected to a years-old scandal involving her breasts in her wedding dress.
But Amurri swiftly shut down the claim, responding, "LOL. For the record, these two things are not related 🙄." She explained that the surgery had been a long time coming, something she had considered for two decades.

She also noted that she'd started going to consultations nearly a year before her wedding and had been saving up for the procedure for five years.
Amurri went on to reference the headline, "I love how I looked on my wedding day, and I loved my dress. If I had worn a turtleneck gown, some people would have also hated it. The truth is that some people are just hateful. Sad!"
She emphasized that those who know her understand she wouldn't make personal decisions based on pressure or criticism from others.
Amurri then humorously proposed a better way the story could have been framed, "Maybe the headline should be 'she finally gathers the courage and feelings of self worth to do the thing she had been wanting her entire life.🤣'"

The 40-year-old also pointed her followers to an essay she had written the previous summer, where she unpacked the wedding dress controversy with what she described as hot takes and cultural criticism.
In the mentioned essay, Amurri shared that her body had changed over the years, from being naturally large-chested to experiencing size fluctuations through weight changes and motherhood.
She acknowledged that after breastfeeding three children, her breasts weren't as they once were, but that didn't take away from how she felt about her body.
The digital creator also wrote about embracing her figure and choosing to highlight it in her wedding dress, noting that her goal was to feel both sexy and elegant.
According to Amurri, showing her décolleté made her feel confident and better flattered her overall shape, a sentiment she found common among women with fuller busts.
"It had never occurred to me that people I don't even know would find my body so offensive, and especially that they would care so much about what I would choose to wear on my own wedding day," she continued.

Amurri reflected on the harsh comments she received as she was confronted with cruel remarks that ranged from criticism of her strapless dress to comments mocking her body. Some said her dress was "awful" and "inappropriate."
"I felt hot tears spring to my eyes in a way that brought me right back to Middle School. Here were people I didn't even know and who didn't know me, spending time and energy typing something that they hoped would bring me one thing and one thing only: Shame," she penned.

Amurri was left her momentarily shaken by the vile comments. She said most painful part wasn't the insults themselves, but the realization that there were people out there who, instead of sharing in her joy, took pleasure in trying to tear her down.
She expressed how disheartening it was to be judged for something so personal, when all she was trying to do was feel beautiful, be a good mother, and live her life.

However, Amurri reflected on the nature of the cruel comments, recognizing that they stemmed from fear, insecurity, and self-loathing. She realized that those who felt the need to tear others down were only harming themselves in the process.
"I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started feeling sorry for those people," she revealed. Amurri wrapped up her essay by expressing that while she didn't have a clear mission or answer, she did have a message she wanted to share.
The mom of three encouraged readers, "DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. When you felt beautiful? YOU WERE. When you felt like a woman? YOU WERE. When your body felt like it was doing what it was supposed to do? IT WAS. You don't need anybody's permission to make the choices you make for yourself."
In Amurri's view, when people critiqued those choices, it was simply none of their business.
The wedding gown that drew so much attention was from Amurri’s second wedding, when she married chef Ian Hock at Windrift Hall in New York’s Hudson Valley on June 29, 2024.
She was previously married to Kyle Martino, with whom she shares three children: Marlowe Mae, Major James, and Mateo Antoni.
Reflecting on her and Hock's nuptials, Amurri described the experience as a fairytale and said the connection with her new husband felt destined from the beginning.
"I didn't know when I named my company Happily Eva After that I would truly find mine, but I'm so grateful I did!" she gushed.
With her recent statement, it's clear that Amurri isn't letting criticism dim her light. By addressing the speculation head-on and standing by her decisions, she's made it known that her happiness, confidence, and sense of self are not up for debate.
