Once known for commanding the backline at FC Barcelona, Gerard Piqué now finds himself at the center of a very different kind of attention. Since his highly publicized split from musical icon Shakira, the retired soccer player quietly — and then increasingly openly — built a new relationship.

Clara Chía Martí's Name Emerges After Piqué and Shakira's Split

Piqué is a retired soccer player who was widely regarded as one of the greatest center backs in the game and a symbol of FC Barcelona. Known as Piquenbauer, he combined defensive strength with skill on the ball and a commanding presence in the air.

But in June 2022, headlines shifted from soccer to heartbreak. After more than a decade together, he and Shakira publicly announced their separation.

In a joint statement, the pair — who share two sons, Milan and Sasha — asked for privacy, citing their children's well-being as their top priority. They shared:

The two had first met during the filming of Shakira's "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" video in 2010, a moment that would lead to one of the most high-profile relationships in global entertainment. However, as the dust from the breakup began to settle, a new name slowly entered the conversation — Clara Chía Martí.

Clara Chía Martí Steps Into the Spotlight – Public Appearances with Piqué Begin

Shortly after his split from Shakira made global headlines, Piqué was seen embracing a new chapter with Martí. On August 31, 2022, the couple made one of their first public outings together while attending a wedding on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain.

Walking arm in arm and smiling, the pair looked relaxed and affectionate as they mingled among guests. Piqué wore a sleek navy suit with an open-collared white shirt, while Martí turned heads in a multicolored striped maxi dress.

A few weeks later, on October 1, they were photographed in Paris, enjoying a playful day riding electric scooters. Dressed in a white T-shirt, denim jacket, and casual pants, Piqué looked at ease alongside Martí, who rode alongside him in white block heels and a breezy outfit.

After months of public outings, Piqué made his relationship with Martí Instagram-official on January 26, 2023, by posting a photo of the two of them.

The pair laughed and joked through the streets of the French capital, showing no signs of hiding their growing connection. Their quiet European getaways continued into December, when the couple was seen in Prague sharing an intimate moment outside the Marriott Hotel.

Clad in dark winter layers, they kept things low-key, joined by Piqué's brother and his wife for what appeared to be a festive double date. While departing the hotel, Piqué was spotted holding Martí close, gently cradling her head as they sat side by side and shared a kiss.

Nearly a year after they first went public, the couple still appeared to be going strong. In August 2023, they were photographed again, this time strolling the streets of Barcelona in matching navy blue outfits, smiling and relaxed during a casual lunch date.

Behind the Romance – Piqué Makes His Relationship with Clara Chía Martí Official

After months of public outings, Piqué made his relationship with Martí Instagram-official on January 26, 2023, by posting a photo of the two of them. The image showed the couple leaning in close, Martí smiling gently at the camera while Piqué rested his head against hers.

However, Piqué's willingness to open up didn't stop with selfies.

As their relationship grew more visible, so did Martí's influence — particularly when it came to Piqué's wardrobe. During a live stream of "Chup Chup," a segment tied to his Kings League project, Piqué appeared alongside streamer Ibai Llanos and a few others, dressed in a coordinated off-white outfit.

When the group teased him for fastening only the top button of his shirt, he brushed it off with humor. But when asked if he follows fashion magazines, Piqué gave a more revealing answer:

"No, the truth is that I go with my girlfriend to the store, and she buys it for me, you know? I'm a puppet."

The remark, lighthearted but sincere, offered rare insight into the dynamic between him and Martí, one that included trust, comfort, and shared influence.

The couple's balance between public affection and private ease was once again on display in another Instagram post shared on May 20, 2023. In the sunlit selfie, Martí leaned into Piqué as warm lighting gave the snap a relaxed setting.

However, Piqué's willingness to open up didn't stop with selfies. In December 2024, during an interview on the Spanish television show "La Revuelta," he surprised viewers by speaking candidly — and with characteristic humor — about his intimate life with Martí.

The conversation, conducted in Spanish, took a light-hearted yet risqué turn when Piqué was asked about his sexual habits and how things were going behind closed doors. He revealed:

"I'd say…30. I'd say one a day. One a day, and if not, we make up for it with one thing or another. One a day — at some point, the math has to work out."

While his response drew laughter from the studio audience, the retired soccer star used the moment to make a broader point. He noted that sex remains a taboo topic in Spain and added, "It's not talked about much. I think it's important." He concluded simply, but clearly, "I'm very happy."

However, in April 2025, the couple faced a fresh wave of headlines — this time, speculating about a possible breakup. Despite the noise, insiders close to Piqué and Martí swiftly set the record straight.

Speaking to ¡HOLA!, sources dismissed the claims as completely false, stating, "It's all a lie." In fact, after nearly three years together, the couple is still going strong.

While they've dealt with intense public scrutiny and constant tabloid attention since going public, those close to them say they've weathered it all and remain committed. According to the same sources, they're simply "tired of all the fake news" being circulated about their relationship.

Despite the constant noise, Piqué and Martí have held their ground. Tired of the headlines but firm in their commitment, they've chosen to move forward on their own terms. From subtle social posts to candid interviews, Piqué has made one thing clear — their relationship is real and still going strong.
