Katie Holmes' Daughter Joins Her on Set, Striking Fans with Her Resemblance to Dad Tom Cruise

While visiting her mother on a film set in New York, Suri Cruise caught public attention with her rare appearance, casual style, and unmistakable resemblance to her famous father.

For the past few months, actress Katie Holmes has been working on her upcoming movie "Happy Hours," being filmed in New York City. She has been spotted on several occasions since the filming started.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Katie received a visit on set from her 19-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise. It marked a rare public appearance for the teenager, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years.

Katie and Tom Cruise, Suri's dad, were married for five years before she filed for divorce in June 2012. At the time, Katie's attorney stated, "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

Tom's representative shared, "Kate has filed for divorce, and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy."

Shortly after the separation, Katie was awarded primary physical custody of Suri, while Tom received generous visitation rights. Suri went on to live full-time with her mother in New York City.

In a 2023 interview, she explained, "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her. I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

Katie shared that including Suri in her work was rooted in love and personal meaning.

"I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her," Katie stated. "But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it's this safe, beautiful, creative space."

"So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly," she continued. "That's how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she's my heart."

In August 2024, Suri was captured wearing a college sweatshirt, inadvertently revealing her college plans. While neither Katie nor Suri publicly confirmed her intended school, reports suggested she might pursue a path in fashion or acting.

Katie, speaking generally about the transition, said, "I'm proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her and I'm happy. I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It's exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that."

During Suri's latest public appearance, cameras captured the 19-year-old walking alongside her mother during a break in filming. Katie wore a long button-down shirt with a vivid blue, green, and purple pattern tied loosely at the waist, layered over light blue pants and paired with black sneakers.

She had her hair pulled up in a casual bun and held what could have been a script. Suri kept her look relaxed with a white ruched tank top, olive-green cargo pants, bright red sneakers, and a brown belt. She carried a leather shoulder bag and wore her dark brown hair down.
