Lily-Rose Depp turned heads on the set of her new film "Playmates," drawing praise for her appearance and criticism over her revealing wardrobe.
Photographed in Los Angeles on October 20, 2026, Depp wore a striking black ensemble while working on a drama inspired by director Lorraine Nicholson's childhood visits to the Playboy Mansion.

Just Jared shared images of the actress during production. The photographs capture the 27-year-old model walking through an outdoor production area and spending time near trailers and vehicles.
The project marks a dual role for Depp, who is both starring in and producing the film. It also marks the feature directorial debut of Lorraine Nicholson, the daughter of Jack Nicholson.
'Playmates' Tells the Story of an Unlikely Friendship
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Playmates" is a coming-of-age drama acquired by Searchlight Pictures.
Nicholson wrote the screenplay using her childhood visits to the Playboy Mansion as inspiration. Her father, Jack Nicholson, was among Hollywood's most recognizable actors during the mansion's prominent years.

The story follows a 13-year-old girl who considers the Playboy Mansion her second home. Played by Indiana Elle, the teenager meets Anna, one of seven women competing to become Playmate of the Month.
Depp portrays Anna, whose ambition is to secure a magazine cover. The younger girl has a different goal: winning the attention of a boy. The two form an unlikely friendship and agree to help each other get what they want.
Bill Pullman portrays Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, while Jessica Biel plays a fictional character who, according to Deadline, is not based on any of Hefner's three wives.

Behind the camera, Depp serves as a producer alongside Alex Orlovsky and Duncan Montgomery of High Frequency Entertainment.
The project builds on a career that includes "Nosferatu" (2024), in which she played Ellen Hutter, and "The Idol" (2023), in which she starred as Jocelyn. Her other credits include "The King" (2019), "Voyagers," "Wolf," and "Silent Night" (all 2021), as well as "Alpha Gang" (2026).
Lily-Rose Depp's Set Outfit Draws Attention
In the set photographs, Depp wears a black bra-style top and high-cut underwear beneath a sheer mesh garment.
A long black robe hangs open over the outfit. The transparent fabric reveals the black lingerie underneath, while small metallic details appear near her hips. She wears layered necklaces and brown slip-on shoes, with her hair falling loosely around her shoulders.
Several photographs show Depp walking through a parking area with a water bottle in her hand. In one image, the robe moves behind her as she walks.

The carousel also captures a change in her appearance. In other frames, Depp wears a gray coat and dark pants while carrying a black shoulder bag and a patterned purple tote.
She is also photographed sitting in a white golf cart beside another woman. One image shows her looking at her phone; another captures her smiling. A Playboy bunny logo appears on the vehicle's side.
Netizens Focus on Depp's Legs and Appearance
On Instagram, one user connected Depp's appearance to a possible exercise routine, writing, "Looks like she's been working out. 🏋️ her legs look great." A second person commented, "Those calves 💪," while a third supporter remarked, "She's too pretty for this world 😩."
Someone else expressed similar admiration: "I've never seen beauty like hers I love her bad." Other users focused on her toned appearance. One commenter wrote, "Her body looks so toned wow!"

A different user offered a shorter response: "Perfect legs." Another described her legs in different terms: "She's got mega thick legs."
Other Viewers Debate Her Acting Career
A separate Instagram discussion raised questions about Depp's revealing screen appearances.
One commenter praised her acting while questioning the roles offered to her: "Can anyone ever cast her in anything where she isn't naked? She's actually a great actress."
Another user took a more critical position: "Why is she always naked? 🙄 Is really she that insecure about her acting that she needs to get our attention the easy way?"
A third commenter shifted the discussion toward her family connections, writing, "She's the only talented nepo baby actor."
Depp Previously Addressed Fame and the 'Nepo Baby' Label
In a 2022 interview with ELLE, Depp discussed growing up with famous parents and establishing her own identity in entertainment.
She credited actor and musician Johnny Depp and French singer and model Vanessa Paradis with protecting her and her younger brother from the pressures of celebrity life. "My parents protected my brother [Jack] and me from it as much as possible," she told the magazine.

Depp's parents met in 1998 and spent 14 years together without marrying. They raised their children in France before separating in 2012.
According to a Global News report, the actor's publicist confirmed that the couple "have amicably separated." The statement requested privacy for their two children, who were 13 and 9 at the time.

In the interview, Depp reflected on growing up with famous parents and watching her mother balance raising a family with a successful career. She described her admiration for her mother's work and how those experiences influenced her understanding of life in the public eye.
As she pursued acting, Depp began navigating that attention herself. She explained that although her family background was widely known, she wanted audiences to focus on her performances rather than her personal relationships or upbringing.

Maintaining a distinction between her private life and professional career became especially important. "I'm really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there," she said.
That desire to establish her own identity also informed her response to the "nepo baby" debate. Depp acknowledged that having famous parents could provide opportunities in the entertainment industry.

However, she argued that family connections alone could not sustain an acting career without continued effort. "Maybe you get your foot in the door, but you still just have your foot in the door. There's a lot of work that comes after that," she said.
She also raised concerns about how the label was used, suggesting that women with well-known parents faced greater scrutiny than men in similar circumstances.

For Depp, the discussion extended beyond her own career to the way female performers are judged. "I just hear it a lot more about women, and I don't think that it's a coincidence," she added.
Beyond her family background, Depp discussed the challenges of online criticism and maintaining privacy as a public figure. She said social media allows strangers to comment on celebrities without considering how their words might affect the people receiving them.

"People think that you're a video game character and say all these horrible things about you that they would never say to your face," she explained.
Depp explained that she tries to avoid reading online comments because she cannot control how others respond to her work or appearance. Rather than seeking approval from strangers, she said she places greater value on the opinions of people who know her personally.
